You need a catch can with a ventilation hose on top.

I did this test last night. Retur oil i a coke bottle and the scavange feed. Then you will know if you scavange enough oil. Anyone that can guess what the third hose are? =)

Retur oil Turbo - YouTube

(2500rpm on the movie)

I´m running a very small ristriktor on my ball bearing turbo. You will see a increase on flow when you rev the engine.

On a journal turbo and no ristriktor you will see a LOT of flow. ( I think it can hurt the engine when you take so mutch oil frome the main oil gallery)

Vent doesn't matter. I've been experimenting with that. Didn't matter if I vented it or not. Works well wether I vented it or not

Air cooled = roller bearing* / Oil cooled = Plain bearing*

* - the GSX 750 was the exception as it was air cooled but had plain bearings (1980 - 1984 I think) then it became oil cooled.

I thought the GS1100G was air cooled...

And was roller bearing if I'm not mistaken ?

I got curious myself, looked it up, just a quicky..

Looks like all GS1100's are air cooled with roller bearings.

So, I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that a scavenge pump driven by the crank is the way to go. Reason being; roller bearing engines have tiny oil pumps..

Electric isn't really an option, because you also need to run a fuel pump, and a fuel and scavenge pump might be a bit too much for the electrical system to put up with.
