gorbys Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Blend/blind? Idk, anyways, I'm moving to some modern instrumentation and hence I don't need the Tacho drive cable and need a way to eliminate it without oil spewing out of my engine. Anyone done this and how did you do it? I tried a quick search but only got posts about final drives Quote
Blubber Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 The fancy way is to remove the worm wheel out the valve cover en replace it with a solid plug with a o-ring ( plus groove) . Might help the think tank if you showed us the current setup Quote
gorbys Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 I ended up cutting the pressed portion of the cable and sleeve off and then squeezed the remainder of the sleeve shut in a vice. Quote
Rijko Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) If that works for you it's fine mate. But it's not the most elegant solution. May want to post your bike if you want specific info. But for giggles let's say you have a GS1000. The 2004 GS500F engine head was an intermediate, they had the old style head but used a blind plug and digital tacho. Fits on a GS1000 head without adjustments. https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gs500f-2004-k4-usa-e03_model16027/partslist/BLCK0021.html#.XycyodSLTX6 Edited August 2, 2020 by Rijko 5 Quote
gorbys Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 GS850, but I'll probably have to blind it on my gsx1100 engine as well. The plug should fit both? Quote
buff Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 i drilled out the the drive on mine in the late 80's and fitted it with a 8mm socket head cap and nylock nut. Never came loose or leaked oil in 20 years of use. Quote
