NEED HELP 1980 GS250

So i was riding on the 4th of July and all of a sudden oil started leaking out of my crankcase. NOT A SMALL LEAK. I took the crankcase apart and thought it was a gasket issue. But after further inspection, This bushing was protruding out and I think i put too much oil and it caused this bushing to bust. If anyone could let me know what this is it would be greatly appreciated. Working on my first bike is very frustrating but rewarding when you hopefully figure out the problem. Again thank you very much,

Cheers,

Cole Garcia

If memory serves me right it's a lipped seal and needs the cases splitting , had the chain do the push rod many years ago , youth and lack of maintainance, second time I got a second and engine for 25 quid !

Did you ever solve this issue? I just bought the same bike as a project. All the diagrams I can find look like the one here, but I'm 99% sure there is no retainer plate on the 80 gs250.

Thanks for getting back to me. Just curious what exactly you mean by your comment. Did they hammer the bushing into place with a piece of metal? Or they added a custom made piece of metal on top of the bushing to hold it in?
