Brians 7/12 Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) This is news to me as well... very interesting... I always thought the ‘85 750 UK/Japan... not sure about ‘86 USA... had the smallest tank... then ‘86 & ‘87 750 used the ‘humpier’ tank !! I remember pulling up to Performoto in North London In early 90’s... & before I got off my bike... Ed said “Nice... first model of the 750’s... a ‘85... I can tell by the flat shaped top of the tank” !! Edited June 16, 2020 by Brians 7/12 Quote
Brians 7/12 Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Are the fuel tap mounting holes all different sizes as well?... or just 750 compared to 1100 !? Quote
clivegto Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 @Nickwhat exact measurements do you want as there not the easiest thing to measure with out filling with liquid, obviously there all the same length as there all interchangeable. Quote

As far as I know it was the early 750 tank taps were not the vacuum type with different bolt hole spacing. Have 2 more tanks the black one is Dutch or German to my knowledge, the white one has be altered to hold more fuel its a old TT endurance race tank. Quote

I understand that it's difficult to measure, but it should be pretty straight-forward to measure the height and width at the center of the filler cap. If those measurements are similar, I guess the tanks are the same shape. Quote

clivegto Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Just noticed the back of the black & gold one is a different shape to the other two, little bit bigger not by much but bigger all the same. Quote

So the conclusion is that out of the tanks you have, there are two sizes (not counting the minuscule volume of the raised filler edge)? Quote
davecara Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 From the info I've got there's at least 3 capacities. There's deffo a 21litre (750H maybe others) There's deffo a 19 litre in at least 2 designs (raised filler area and flat topped) Theres also either an 18.5 litre or 17 litre as all the info I'm gathering seems to contradict itself. I'm researching all this at the mo to try and get some definitive answers and even Suzuki themselves don't seem to know everything E22 markets and California E03 Have their own part numbers, I've yet to find out why; maybe colour schemes but I'm guessing its something to do with emissions? There are 2 types of tap for flatties and CV's with different bolt spacing. There are 28 part numbers I've found so far and there certainly weren't 28 permutations of slabby even factoring in all the colour schemes. Hopefully once I've gathered all the info and the reasons for the difference it'll be of interest. Or it'll bore you shitless. Expect to see it soon either way! 3 Quote
