Engine inlet and exhaust valves

Am I ok to clean them (remove carbon deposits)  using a wire wheel on a bench grinder?

I found soaking steel bits with carbon deposits in causdic soda solution first makes it much easier to get off. It definiteluy works with exhaust bits, e.g. baffles, so a nylon wheel can be used instead of a steel one.

Yeah but stay away from the seats and don't push to hard or you'll bend the stem!
