Gsx1100er Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Trying to decide which carbs to use on the B12. The 38's off the 750L are power jets but the bandit won't spend time over 10,000 revs to maximise their performance. I have the chance to get a set of 36's which might be better. Are the 38's better up to 10,000 than the 36's. Which would you guys use ? Quote
wraith Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Got a set of 38mm on my gsx1100f powered Kat and the Miss has a set of 36mm on her gsxr1127 powered streetbike ( don't like the wording streetfighter ) not much in it mid range, she seems to have a small amount more power out the bends but the Kat has a bit more mid to top power. for road use and how/what roads your riding not that much in it, the main thing is the 38mm carb rubbers don't match the b12 ports and to get the most out of the 38mm you really need to take some meat out of the rubbers and ports to make them match. Don't know if the 38mm carbs will fit the b12 36mm rubbers? Quote
Gsx1100er Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Cheers mate, will prob go with the 36's and sell the 38's. Prefer mid range over top end. Just gotta find some B12 rubbers. Gaz. Quote

Wraith is right - the 750 38mm rubbers do not match the Blandit head (on cylinders 1 and 4 I think) very well so the head needs modifying to get the best out of both. 38mm carbs (od 42mm) won't fit into the stock Blandit rubbers (id 40 mm) but I suppose the rubbers could be opened out with a circular sanding tool. wraith Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 If you've already got the 38mm carb and rubbers, why don't you get some b12 carb and rubbers (lots of b12 bits about) put the 38mm on without the head work just to see how it goes then put the 36mm as a comparison then sell the ones you don't want, then it's not in the back of your mind what if PS, I think the 38mm carbs will fit with the b12 rubbers, just to see how they perform. Gsx1100er Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Cheers guys. The 750L is currently a running bike but winter project B12 conversion. I'm not in a position to swap anything off the bike at the moment. I'll prob try and get B12 rubbers and test fit the 36's .Just trying to collect all the bits prior to work starting. Once the 750 is out there will be few bits for sale ( if I can find the for sale / wanted section ! ). Thanks for the input . Gaz Quote
