GS1000 oil pump

Gents,

I'm after a new oil pump for my GS1000, but this is not available anymore by Suzuki unfortunally..

Does anyone knows someone who might have one? Or is there a pump from another model GS(x) what might fit?

Thanks

I do know that the GSX with plain crank bearings have a thicker pump..

I don't have a 2V pump but if you have any dimensions of the internals I can check against the 4V inners

Thanks, but I can't get to that at the moment...

The thicknes is different I think, diameters are equal, I made a scavenge pump from the internals from a plain bearing GSX,14mm if I remember correctly.

Why do you need a new pump?

I've never heard of one wearing out.

With the 8V oil pressure being so low, it's like the bike with run with minimal flow

they can wind up looking pretty untidy if they've eaten something - i've got two GSX pumps that weren't worth putting back in a bike - one ate bits of case and piston skirt, the other ate bits of cam and rocker plating.

Because it's 40y.o. no clue how many kms it has done, and it looks quite used. I'm building a turbo on the bike so I want a good pump, better save than sorry.

I always thought that oil pumps hardly wear, but my Range Rover did had an oil pump what didn't work properly, but did seemed to be in reasonable condition that mostly made me think..

Not bad logic, but my 78 has over 80,000 miles on it with no problems

I'd think you'd want to go with the 750 oil pump gears for increased flow rate

Just fit an oil pressure gauge in that big port on the right side of the motor, below and behind the barrels. Should have a chrome bolt in it

I already have

and what reading are you getting? The gauge has to have a range 0-15, or thereabouts. 0-60 is too high and inaccurate

I checked and VDO makes a 0-15 lb gauge. My mate Renobruce used to sell complete kits here in the States

Anyone who know what the thickness/width is of the gears of a GS1000 pump?

I ordered a pump, but this pump is 10mm wide, the one I have is 14mm wide..
