KnockKnock Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I’m sure you’ve all seen and heard it all before. But I just want to ask a couple questions before I do this project. Mk1 600 looking at putting an 85’ slabby 750 in it. Got some 105 jets to go in my standard kei hin carbs. With stock air box and the bigger jets, will that be sufficient for the 750? And just any of your tips/info would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
Swiss Toni Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 (edited) It'll fit. Might be slightly taller. Easier mod is fit 750 top end to B6 cases. Don't forget to tell your insurance company! Edited March 7, 2019 by Swiss Toni 1 Quote
wraith Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I'd look at using the 750 carbs, or even the 34mm cv carbs off the 1100 slabside as the b6 carbs may restrict the 750. As Swiss Toni says look at just putting the 750 barrels, head and cams on the b6 bottom end but there again I cannot remember if the slabside motor is the long stock or short motor to match the b6 ? Just be the Jack D that's rotting my brain Quote

cheese monkey Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 I’ve got a GSX750 motor and carbs that need a new home. Quote

cheese monkey Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 I have no idea if it’s long or short but I expect someone will. It’s a 99 750 Inazuma Quote

Is that liquid cooled at that age? Quote
cheese monkey Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 No it’s oil cooled. The GSXR was water cooled then. Yes it would fit. Quote
cheese monkey Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 One thing I would say (not trying to persuade you to have mine) is getting the engine, inlet rubbers and carbs ideally from the same bike will make your life a lot easier. When I did a 6/7 I went through 3 sets of inlet rubbers and 2 sets of carbs due to rubbish Eblag sellers or just getting the wrong ones. It was pretty frustrating. Quote
cheese monkey Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Also I think if you use a 750 lump you need to use the B6 sump, but the 750 oil pickup. I certainly did that swap on mine. Might of been for clearances or something, I'm not sure now. Quote
Swiss Toni Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Quick look at 'Frankensteins Pages' Since the B6 and later 750R 90-91 have the same stroke, cylinder block dimension, and wrist pindiameter, the 90/91 block+pistons can be swapped with the B6 stuff (although you’ll have tocheck that the pistons don’t hit the head/valves). wraith Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 (edited) The long stroke engine is the 749cc with a 48.7mm stroke. 1985 through to 1987 and the 1990 models Or that's what the Haynes manual says. Edited March 8, 2019 by wraith Quote
