nickyboy.4 Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) Just found out my bike has got a bit of a rusty fuel tank, i've seen worse but mine has a few holes in the bottom, probably 2mm is the worst one, is there any form of patching i can buy over the counter to seal it, having it brazed has been suggested or tig welded but i don't have mates in the trade or anyone who will do stuff on the cheap is there a cheap diy option? Rncv Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Mig weld it up then seal the tank. Doesn't have to be TIG/Braze. 1 Quote
Dezza Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Remove the rust by using an oxalic acid (available on ebays) solution and a load of nuts and bolts (non-stainless) and a bit of steel chain. Even if you get it brazed it will pay to also line it with POR15, especially if you want a nice paint job. A leak after painting will cause much grief. 2 Quote
Toecutter Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Where abouts are you? I would be happy to TIG it for you and leak test afterwards if you don't mind posting it out. Is the rest of the bottom solid? Quote
