So why did I need one...we all have our stories wanted one as a kid etc, etc.
I was lucky enough to be old enough to buy one 2nd hand but not run in back in 1987.Picked up from Cusworths on a sunny day and even stopped by the feds on the way back to Nottingham because they wanted to look at it.
I bought it to race but never got that far as after 5 weeks an old bloke pulled out in front of me in the wet and I went over his car,the bike didn't and ended up going through a fence then landed head first in a pond now drowning.
Fast forward a year and bike repaired on the cheap after insurance payout....steering head was now oval ish but a st damper cured it until once again an old guy with a caravan pulled in front of me on the old M1j 24 island I was heading towards north bound but never made it and hit him at least doing 70 the bike sparked round the island and went down the A453 and I flew through the air behind it.
Cuts and bruises only thanks to my sambas and paddock jacket jeans combo
pic of the bike after 2nd repair and new frame with new gear thanks to compo pay out

Having restored a slabbie recently I am ready to do some summer TLC on it but thought I could share my story and maybe inspire or assist with info for the countless others out there doing the same.

As my mate @Paulm would say the future planned turbo upgrade will cure the exhaust problem once and for all

Very nice ET (apart from the terrible colour that is..), and I especially like the seat.
I cannot understand the exhaust though as it seems only fit for European roundabouts..
Thanks, i'm glad I haven't got any feelings or you might make me cry...yes the colour is a matter of choice so not always going to be everybody's taste. The exhaust has already decked out twice on a couple of local non EU roundabouts.
It will remain for now until I find something more suitable than a drag pipe, its ok on left handers just have to sit it up on rights but it does make a nice noise when it decks out.......oh and I've burnt my pissing leg on it as well, had to polish my own skin off it at the weekend

Thanks Swiss, I was thinking of changing the colour scheme but it's grown on me. Will post some pics of the seat when I'm home on Friday it was already done when I bought it not sure who did it but will ask the guy I bought it off to see who did it for him and let you know.

Just read my last update to this thread and thought I should shamefully post little progress since Jan.....state usual excuses work, grandkids blah blah blah.
The plans for Easter is rather than just eat chocolate I have to get my slabbie roadworthy again as it's not run since OSS gathering at Donington..carb issues and knackered chain. This will allow the freeing up of my ABBA stand to start working on the RGV which is currently lying on a piece of old carpet on the floor.
I still need to buy some new rad hoses, strip and rebuild the carbs, clean the loom and connections and save up for a replacement rear shock
Once on the stand I will replace swingarm and steering bearings,I already have these.
I can then get it back on it's wheels with refreshed forks and give it a final clean before refitting the refreshed motor.
Plan is to have it together for early September then sorn it again while I get it running and dial in the zeeltronic and new power valves and a bit of road testing on a closed road nearby
I will post some pics as I go just to keep it interesting for the 2 smoke fans out there.
before and after pics of the engine which is currently protected under an old beach towel in the shed

Spent the afternoon trying to sort out the indicators and tail tidy that was a bit dodgy.
Replaced tail tidy with a better metal one that needed some mods and a spray of pj1, then went to refit the indicators and you guessed it one f..ing broke so still not sorted, now need to get a new one.
Fitted some renthal grips and rg bar ends to.
