  1. Infrared thermo read 107°C 5 minutes after killing the switch, temp taken at side of the engine at cyl n1
  2. Bike is all done finally, very happy today. Went for a test ride, 70kms or so, for those who dont know, it has a do t head, skimmed a bit as well, full port, no guides in the runners cams degreed 105°/105° full exhaust, mikuni flatslides 38, had to cut and weld the tanks for clearance. Everything is so damn tight on this bike now, pingel lever barely opens to 3/4 but thats more than enough. Anyways i felt alot of heat today while riding. Rode hard, the whole ride took about 30 minutes, when i stopped at a light i felt insane heat. I know its due to the higher compression. What can i do to bring the heat down? Any bigger coolers ? Cooler fans ? What do you gjys do to fix the heat issue. Im afraid if i dont address the issue the engine wont live long. Cheers

    So you need a swivel on your wrist to be able to go full throttle on the flatslides ? Throttle is motion pro, correct N for the carbs. I think the bell is a bit small in diameter. Anyone know how to fix this ? Any throttle sizes ? I heard way back there was a 1/4 throttle kit but thats wayy to much and now i cant even find it or any other

    New carbs fresh out the box mate. Im using a pingel, not the vacuum actuated oem tap. I was thinking its because the fuel keeps flowing with the open tap so its flooding. As soon as i close the tap it stops, only happens on 1 & 4.

    Finally got the rs38s on the bike, had to dremel thr boots a bit, got the tank issue fixed and painted, looking real nice. Yesterday i starter her for the first time on the nee carbs and new head, and i noticed fuel leaking after i turned it off. Only when i turn her off she starts leaking from the small nipples on the carbs, as soon as i close the tap it stops, is this normal with flatslides ? Not all carbs are leaking only 2. (1&4)
  10. Ok then i have to get steel wire for the mig, i only have aluminum wire. Its not SS right ? Now that i think of it ive seen rusty tanks lmfao.
  11. Sorry for the double post. Anyone know the thickness of aluminum on the gas tank ? Im going to cut it and make a bubble and reweld, gathering materials so i guess its around 1mm ? Is it 2mm ? Anyone know for sure ?
  12. Just saw your thread, very neat project u got going on there mate, loving the fabs. Im gonna need at least 5 cms of clearance for those cables and i just dont think i can heat and hammer it down that much. Making the bubble seems like the best soulution so far.

  14. tried raising the tank. That didnt work. The gap is just embarrassing. Went on mikunis website and couldnt find the conversion kit for a side pull kit and even if i did i think it wont clear anyways. Guess ill need to cut the tank and make a bubble like dezza said.

  16. Ok so i got the pingel with the offset spacer, now the tank hits the throttle cable on the carbs, would you bend the tang the cables go through on the carbs or lift the tank with spacers like upshotknothole suggested and if so how can i space the tank ?
  17. My 1100 rubbers are way to wide for the rs38s so im using the ones from a 1100 that had 36bst which have an id of 42 but are shrunk as heck, anyway im more concerned with the petcock clearance, ill check that sticky once again maybe i missed something
  18. 748 d.ot head on 1127 N, couple of things preventing me from completing the build, 1- carbs wont go in the boots not even with ratchet strap. (Yes they are the correct boots, spacing on carbs is a bit off, might dremel boots) 2- fuel tap is hitting the carbs from what i can foresee, what if any solution do i have other than running a pingel tap, and if thats the only option which pingel have u guys used, there seem to be many options, i need the one that will work.   19. Hey gents i fitted 50mm velocity stacks (genuine mikuni) on my flatslides 38, i notice the stacks dont go all the way in, seems like there is abou a 3mm gap before it completly sits in properly. Is it supposed to be this way or whats going on ?
