  1. Yep definitely sounds like you’ve been lucky if you really have got away with it!
  2. As Joseph mentioned, do you have the bolt spacing? Prob easier finding a replacement tap if it’s standard spacing. Also is diaphragm split? Can sometimes resurrect it by cleaning it up. If it requires too much force is the issue with the spring? Good luck.
  3. Apologies for my limited knowledge, but what air filter is this running?. Is air filter clean?. Are plugs same colour at idle as they are riding round the block? Fb
  4. Regarding the leaky carbs, are you sure its the gasket leaking?. Not just a sticky carb?. How is the wiring going?. Had an earlier (81) one of these years ago, it used to fry rectifiers so a well known mod was to use one from a wet dream. F
  5. That's a good call, just to remove the broken bumpstops.. Master cylinder looks stock, alloy unpainted, never any trouble when it was in use.. I see there's a number of repair kits on fleabay but will see what Suzuki can offer first.. Cheers
  6. Just looking at the ever increasing list of jobs to recomission my old Kat.. Noticed on the Kona dial a rides which were always ok, the bump stops have disintegrated.. Can these be stripped & repaired does anyone know? Also the front master cylinder has shat itself and scarred the original fairing paintwork - dammit.
  7. OK I measured the pistons at the skirt as suggested, using an old fashioned vernier caliper ( they never used to be that difficult to read)!. I got between 73.74 & 73.94 so i guess that makes them a little too worn maybe?. Shame cos they look reasonable. Gudgeon pins measure 19.76/19.82mm across all 4.
  8. Thanks for your replies.. I will re-measure the piston size, i had measured near the top. I'll also measure the gudgeon pin diameter as mentioned.. Is 73.88 std size for the 1135 block? Cheers
  9. I got hold of a set of madly cheap pistons on fleabay recently.. Meant to be for an efe, but i've had a search & looks like they could be GSXR1000? They measure 73.4mm dia. they are named 'ART' with various other labelling i.e '6M1'' can anyone confirm/suggest what they're off please?. They won't fit my 1074 but they might fit something in future!
  10. The gear displays i've come across normally just unscrew from inside the instruments.. i've never stripped a module apart though.
  11. If you're after used ones, the smaller GSX twins had the gear indicator too.. perhaps easier to source than a replacement GS one?. It has the single window display though, whilst some GS's had the adjacent numbers display i believe.
  12. i never had a Suzuki with seat hinges, i guess you dont have photos?
  13. Never knew that.. Is that for reasons of heat?
  14. Kat 1000 had 32mm carbs, think the gs1000 were smaller, 28mm i think?
  15. i'd agree with that, the jet sizes will surely be different for the larger 36mm carbs.. interesting that they suggest running 2 different main jet sizes?!
