  1. I have a Dyna 2000 that lasted one hour, really starting to not be impressed. They changed it straight away and admitted they had a problem at the time. With Gary's coil that 4 now that I know have that have failed, that pretty pour in my book.

  2. Or a Major air leak, firstly you need to strip carbs and clean them thoroughly especially idle circuit.

Silly faults as said above or even throttle cable not returning, check butterfly are actually closing.

Check them properly, it is not going to settle.

  3. Ive had 2 sets of Dyna coils, admittedly both second hand, and both failed, one completely and one with a really annoying intermittent misfire that I could not find, The coils on my 1216 high comp bandit are the original ones, I know as I had the bike new, they are 18 years old and work perfectly..;)

Whats the attraction of car type stick coils??:|

Well i was convinced I had fixed my miss fire as was convinced had  track fault to lead, as found little damage on said cylinder and swapping leads moved fault.

On way to Donington yep you guess, that annoying intermittent miss fire came back more convincingly today, Dyna coil after all and they not that old either.

  4. After doing some research and speaking to friends whose field is electrical side of life and they really advise not to use stick coils unless you have fully programmable ecu to tailor each one to required functioning needs pretty close to what has being said above really.

  5. Sure, if i was buying a fiull system (which I will be at a later date) then I would be looking at quality but as we are only talking end cans, couldnt see any reason past build quality. A Racefit beckons at a later date or even a Techserfu. (had a Techserfu along with 41mm TMR's ready for the big build but sold them at profit) But for now.. cheap end cans it is. :)

For now I want to get to decent power by de restricting it. So should I fit a jet kit or not, or just get it to a dyno and jetted properly? Cost Vs quality I guess. Has anyone got experience of just replacing cans? What else did you need to do?

    Thanks

    Jay

Do not put Dyno jet kit they too fussy and wear out in ridiculous amount of time. I did a post years ago about making aluminium needle holders to keep needles square to stop emulsion tube and needles wearing so quick, not sure if that is in vault will have to have look.

Standard Suzuki emulsion tubes and needles are a must. It certainly would not hurt to put free flowing filter in air box with cans you will need to dyno to make the best out of the set up once fully serviced, valve clearances set and balance carbs. In that order.

  6. Stock bike 125 at back wheel is norm obviously there are many different factors and claims.  If your bike needs bit of fettling, servicing etc you can expect a lot less. The m and n 40mm  carbs can be very fussy. Start basics valve clearances, filters, balance, ignition etc.  How does it feel you carried out any work in it.

Do not put in dynojet kit.

  7. Your right Jonny, not for me it's my old motor which I just could not part with so decided to refresh it and put some nice parts on to then sell complete set up !  I'm going N/a for a bit obviously in gsxr slingy frame! But 14 injected motor . All newer Gsxr running gear! K9 I think I've got.

Knowing you it be well finished be good to see. I have finally got my enthusiasm back too.

  8. resting thread this me likely as Dynas do seem to go pop easy! Even fresh ones but on the other hand my buddy chris has had some on his fighter for 15years no bother??? wtf  each madness. He's running 8mm Taylor's yellow of course lol. Suits yours too jonny....

Oh yes yellow that would work ha ha.

Currently using magnecor leads they have being on for at least 10 years. I have feeling now they are tracking somewhere.  Ohm meter readings are good on both coil and leads. But thrown standard coils and leads on for now, which least 20 years old and she purring again.

Standard coils and leads are as good new, but plug caps break down eventually and copper corrodes but coils never seem to break, and its solved my miss fire thats be driving me mad.

The point of dyna2.2 ohm is its like a pipe that your bloking it builds up then pop big huge fat spark. The mini coils meant to be as good even thou 3 ohm technology etc.

Stick coils thread is really interesting wonder how it compares. With them do you need the screw on caps that go on the spark plugs.
