Has it got standard cams? Were the valve clearances done recently? Inlet leaks (from valves not closing fully) through timing set wrong or cam overlap causing decompression at low revs(?) Just throwing ideas out there. Very easy to overlook as we all tend to go straight at the carbs.

My blandit 12 would SOMETIMES die in a shot (like hitting kill switch) at low revs or coming to a stop, a pisser in heavy traffic. I tried 2 sets of ultrasoniced carbs and same with the coils. Same symptoms, stop dead every now and then so ruled out carbs and spark. I had a gsxr11K inlet cam in the motor that was causing a bit of cam overlap. You could feel slight blow back from the back of the airbox. Reckon the inlet needed dialing in. (just unlucky in my case with my engines unique tolerances, next guys motor might be a different story) Cheapest option (I'm skint) was to put back in the b12 cam. Done 1500 miles now. Hasn't died once. Still going to put a lumpy cam back in but optimise the timing when I can afford a dial in kit.

Use carbide burr and slot your original cam sprockets.

  2. Got my 11 on 1186 kit to 160 hp with 40mm cv with original airbox and k and n to this figure on stock emulsion tubes. Yes engine was worked and worked in everyway but got it there. Do not junk airbox you need it on track bike and donot be persuaded otherwise.

  3. Dyno jet kits are really good once set up but they do not last I was changing needles and emulsion tubes yearly, on track bike they develop a hideous flat spot coming out slow corners its kills the bike honestly.

Another reason why I developed the following.

  4. Nice info Del.

Im not so keen on 520 chains and sprockets they dont last too long.

I snapped a good quality 530 chain in Isle man that was only year old. I remember thinking why chain developed high spot so soon must change it when get home. Then bang lesson learnt there I reckon.

I drilled and lockwired casing together to get working clutch again.

Depending on how many threads on shaft you could machine new spacer leave lock washer off green thread lock in place , but make sure its safe and enough engagement.

All your into maching collar and welding gear on like dragbikes but they use out rigger bearings.
