banoffee Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Hello and welcome to OSS. Has the bike been sat for a long time? If so have you tried draining the carbs and tank and then fresh petrol to start with? Quote
pray750r Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 its been stood since last september before i started it i did change the fuel in the tank for fresh Quote
Swiss Toni Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) Morning matey! Welcome to OSS .... and drain the carbs! Edited April 22, 2018 by Swiss Toni Quote
banoffee Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 In that case personally I’d be whipping the carbs off for a strip and clean etc and fresh plugs too. If there’s a fuel filter check/clean/replace too. All assuming it ran fine before storage that is and that there’s no rust in the tank. Quote
pray750r Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 hi it ran fine before and no rust in the tank never took carbs off before is it a big job not much room in there Quote
Swiss Toni Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) To save yourself a bit work, first try Yamaha Carb Cleaner. It's kind to the o rings & plastics that reside in your carbs. Try to get the old stock stuff in the black bottle, with the red label. Rather than the newer stuff with the yellow label. As usual, the 'do gooders' fucked a good product up, on the grounds of Elf n Safety! Follow the instructions, and it may do the job for you. If it doesn't, at least your carbs will be nice and clean when you strip them down! Nothing complicated in stripping them. Be methodical, and keep each carbs components in seperate pots. Replace mangled crosshead screws with capheads. Make's it easier for you next time round! And, if you do have to strip them down, a dip in the Ultrasonic bath isn't a bad idea! philwright Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 I had the same sort of probs...turned out to be an unconnected vacuum pipe, check all fuel pipes and vac pipe under fuel tank are fitted and routed properly. Quote
pray750r Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 will do thanks to everyone for all the help Quote
