Fredbusa Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Hi peeps, does anyone know the differences between early and later gs850 barrels? I know later ones won't go straight on a gs750 case without modding the case mouth, but are there any other differences that you can see to seperate the two? I need to identify some barrels as to which is most likely to go straight on. I think the early ones had slide carbs, so does this mean the inlets are smaller? Your expert advice would be much appreciated. Quote

I had slide carb 850 top end on a 750 motor way back. yes iirc inlets are smaller & you cant put cvs on a slide head. was 30 year ago or more mind you. 1 Quote
wraith Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Like the gs1000, the earlier gs850 barrels did not have the 6mm bolt in the middle/front of the barrels (between pots 2/3) If you use kwak z1000j carb rubbers on a slide carb head, you can put CV carbs on you need to elongate the bolt holes on the rubbers and in a ideal world match the ports up to the rubbers but there not that far out. 2 Quote
