CockneyRick Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Can anyone show me a pic of the gear linkage as i wanna figure the exact positioning of the link arm on the gearshaft. Ithangew Quote
Swiss Toni Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Should be punched dots on the shaft and arm, Riccardo? if no marks, arm on gear shaft and pedal should be parallel. Then you've just got to decide what's comfortable in the range your ankle lets your foot move? Quote
CockneyRick Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) It has Kwak rearsets on with a long throw rod on it. So am just looking at the angle the link arm works at best. I have to adjust the rod for my personal taste after & loctite it in place as the rod is made of Nylon tube that i threaded. Link arm on this pic is not one i'm using, have fitted a gen slabby one now with dogleg to it. Edited March 22, 2018 by CockneyRick Quote
crow Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 The linkage will always work best when the arm on the gearchange shaft and the arm on the pedal are both at 90 degrees to the rod. Not sure if the nylon rod is a temporary mock up but if not I wouldn't expect it to survive for long... 1 Quote
CockneyRick Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 It's pretty strong, I can't bend/snap it! Quote
zedhead Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 You might not be able to bend or snap it, but how's it fitted at the ends? Threaded? The thread WILL strip ;-) get an alloy or steel one made up before it fails you. 1 Quote
