Ade Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 How expensive is it to have the outlet pipes at the front of the motor replaced? My friend came round and asked me to look for an oil leak and it looks to be one of the outlet pipes. I haven't done one before so I'd thought I'd ask for advice. Quote

The other side is dry but both look corroded so I said to have both replaced at once. Quote
Blubber Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Afraid it is a head of job. While it's off it would be rude not to: refresh valve stem seals, clean and skim head, clean and grind valves, replace head gasket, check valves for clearances . If you are on a non- existent / very tight budget.. ignore the leak or bodge it with some sealant until funds allow for it. Altenatively... this could be THE moment to step up and fit a gsxr750 or bigger lump (might even be cheaper) 2 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 First check the oil is coming from the drain pipe oil seals and not from the plug tunnel drain hole which is in that vicinity. it is easy to mistake the location and if its just one of the rocker box seals leaking down the tunnel its very easy to do. Like blubber said if its the drain, tubes head off.. Quote
spiderpig Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 If he's really unlucky the oil return pipes will be seized in the cases, like the slab I'm working on 1 Quote
