Rsk_141 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Hi was wondering if gsx 1100 efe front discs are the same bolt pattern as Gs 550, would like to upgrade brakes / twin floating discs, and some twin pot calipers. Any help with this would be great. Quote
wraith Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Can't help with the question but love the proper oldskool build your doing keeping it true oldskool Quote
Poldark Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I'm getting confused. Here you are asking about the GS550 wheels; in another thread you said they were worn out and you wanted to run wheels left over from your slab-side project. Most later multi-piston calipers don't have enough clearance for spoke wheels. There a number of dual disk, but non-floating and single piston, which you could easily use. If you want to run the slab-side wheels, should be easy to run complete slab-side front end. Maybe another member has run an interesting setup you want to use. Quote
Mc Nasty Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) Pretty sure 1100f discs bolt to gs mags... no idea if that will work in stock width front end. (same disc as efe) Edited February 14, 2018 by Mc Nasty Quote
BigT Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Many here in the States have done the Salty Monk twinpot upgrade https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?140253-Twinpot-Brake-upgrade-on-78-Skunk I have done it, found you can skid the front tire at 35 mph if you're not careful Quote

Sorry for the confusion, but at this stage of a build I get so many different ideas, and change lanes quite often, I have limited access to, engineering, tools, workshops or friends, so have to rely on part compatability,, (Frankinstien approach, or is it Fronkinsteen ) Two major problems with the slabside front end: Not going to start altering a set of 1986 GsXr 1100 yokes. I think that would be crazy, The other is it would mean I would not be able to fit wheels that I like, I have only got a set of 3 spoke CMA wheel for the slabby, and I wasn't that keen on them when they were fitted to the slabby one of the reasons i swapped them out for The CBr wheels. Don't worry you'll catch up! Edited February 14, 2018 by Rsk_141 Quote
