Spamwood
So back in the Day Suzuki reckoned 90hp for a new GS1000. Now assuming that was at the crank, and possibly slightly optimistic, what do we think a good standard GS would make at the wheel on a modern dyno ? Has anyone tested a standard one lately ? gs7_11
Mine was 75 when standard. With a 1085 Wiseco kit and a 4:1 and jetting, it was 90. That was a different dyno. That was a while back. Last time it was dyno'd (different dyno again of course) it was 114 at the wheel. That's as above plus Kent cams, RS36's, gas-flowed large port head. 1 Quote Link to comment
Spamwood
Interesting, thanks. Quote Link to comment
Reinhoud
Mine had 81 at the wheel with a worked head and an after market exhaust, no high performance. Quote Link to comment
gs7_11
So not an especially powerful bike; grunty and relaxed by todays standards. Yet the first page of my GS1000 owners manual proudly claims "The fastest Motorcycle Suzuki have ever produced"! Quote Link to comment
stockcar
it was in 1977 or whatever....... Quote Link to comment
gs7_11
Just now, stockcar said: it was in 1977 or whatever....... I know! Not criticising, just commenting on how things change. Quote Link to comment
wraith
Most gs1000 standard will only make 70-80bhp at the rear wheel on the best of days, back in the day Suzuki quoted bhp at the crank not the rear wheel. Quote Link to comment
