Overheating

OK next on the problems list Last night did about  15 miles 2up free flowing traffic, didn't go mad urban and A roads just a bimble out, nice all was well bike behaved. Today 2 up again sitting in clogged roads 20-30 mph stop start you know after around 10 miles bike got grumpy started running lumpy felt it happening so pulled into a petrol station and she cut out. refused to start again for about 20-30 minutes, but on the way home free moving traffic never missed a beat idle was a little erratic. What the hell is going on?

I had the same problem with overheating so I installed a couple of fans on the oil cooler controlled by a switch on the handlebars. Also put in a oil temp sensor.

What bike have you got ?     Have you upped your  compression, or advanced your ignition timing ? - hasn't been hot for a while, would've been water cooled today !

Its a gsx 750 f fair few miles on her now 55000+ Im no bike mechanic but I'm getting suspicious of the coils. Down pipe on the right of the bike when sat on it is taking longer to warm up than the rest, plus when hot its losing power have to work it through the gears more, does this sound viable.

Mine did  the same in heavy traffic.

They don't like getting hot, here in Oz that's hard to avoid.

I would also look at your jetting.

My worn out emulsion tubes and needles were causing a rich condition.

A rich condition can also contribute to overheating issues.

@Antman, a rich condition does not contribute to overheating. fuel has a cooling effect

Mine started to run badly only when really hot. Turned out to be very fine cracks in the plug caps. Was a good excuse for dyna coils and taylor leads, sorted.
