Base line settings 771cc 85 Gsxr

Hi all

Has anyone got this set up or provide a good starting point re settings/ jetting.

771cc 85 gsxr

BST 36 carbs from 88J model with Dual K&N.

Carbs rebuilt with new emulsion tubes and stock needles.

This is current jetting

Main 127.5

Pilot 37.5

Pilot screw 2 1/2 turns out

Needle on lowest clip

 I am running almost the same with an '86 and a 907. BST 36mm with K&N

130 MJ 

37.5 PJ

2 turns out on the air 

2nd clip on the Factory pro Config 3.0 needle (different profile).

 

Has been run with an air/fuel meter and is right in the sweet spot for most of the throttle range. I tried a whole range of main jets while doing this.

Its still a bit lumpy at low revs but I need new emulsion tubes.

 

It also took me a while to get the floats right (15.5mm seemed to work with my set up)

Are the jets your using the factory pro ones?

Or Mikunis?

 

Im thinking that I will most likely go for the factory pro 3.0 kit. 

Incidently prior to new emulsion tubes and needles jetting was ok.

A look under glass showed the emulsion tubes had gone oval and the needles had an obvious wear mark, so the wear was allowing a richer effect, never thought that it would be such a marked difference.
