6th January 2024 to 10th January 2025.

I was having trouble cleaning rust etc... out of my tank which had been sitting sitting since sometime in 1985. I saw a Youtube clip where a bloke cut it around the seam, cleaned it and tig welded it back together. I'll do that I thought, cut it around the seam had it blasted clean. Beautiful I thought the got a quote of $1400.00 for welding. Oh dear, was a bit strapped at the time when a guy at my club said he would do it. He is a welding instructor for government courses over here.

The above dates are the period he had it and during all that time he would tell me " yeah, got it tacked...going good... been a bit busy with work...cracking on with it" and on and on.

My wife picked it up for me as he lives near where she works. Good thing as I might have decked him and I don't want to lose my guns. This is what I got.

Where are you? It shouldn't be too much hassle finding someone to weld the seams of a sound steel tank and not make a hash of it. If it was made out of ultra-thin alloy though then it'd be a different story.

Good news, it isn't botched completely, he stopped in time and didn't warp everything too bad - it can be salvaged, but it takes a skilled welder for sure.
Those guys are expensive, but usually pretty nice fellows.
