Mk1 B12 cam chain tensioner spring

My cam chain was starting to rattle a bit , didn’t think it could be worn out at 47k miles, decided to fit a new spring,

got new genuine Suzuki spring 12833-26D10 , quite different to spring that I removed, it’s 7mm longer and the wire is a slightly thinner gauge,

anyone know if Suzuki upgraded this part at sometime ? 
just curious really, the new spring is fitted and seems to be an improvement on the one I removed

Only one part number listed for that spring that I can find. Someone probably changed out the previous one at some point.

Yeah that’s what I thought, wonder why they might have done that,

the longer spring is the correct one

Aftermarket or they had it on hand off another oil cooled bike?

The new genuine Suzuki springs are indeed longer and thinner wire than the original items. I have fitted these new springs to Blandit 12, 1100 slabby and powerscreen engines
