bmw1000rr shock in a slingshot

looking at replacing the rear shock on the slingy with a bmw1000rr shock but what year 1000rr shocks actually fit the slingshot

Don't think they were changed trhough the range (as far as size goes)

okay looking on that site and it sems that the later ones have a electronic sensor

Plenty of electronics going on with those things. Don't think it will be a good idea to fit one of those, since it limits your adjustability.

Pretty sure 2009 - 2013 shocks are fine for length. Definitely not the 2015 and electronic assist ones. Don't pay too much - they're decent, but the first thing a track dayer does is get rid of the shock - they need money spent on them to work well, lack of rebound damping in particular. Better than our old units though.

 There are some e- blag sellers taking the P with their prices, £500 for a several thousand miler !!!  A decent after market Nitron/Maxton/Wilbers/WP etc is far better around that price. You can get units for not too much from the Continental sellers normally.

okay is it worth saving the pennys and getting a nitron instead

Yes, definatly. A shock specific for the bike will always win compared to any factory shock.

Exactly as Rene says - the BMW shock is pretty good, but a purpose built Nitron etc will have the correct working stroke length, correct spring, correct length and more care will probably have been taken over it's construction -  if you can , it'll be best.
