phatphil78 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Hi all,I'm new to site and new to forums really. I will eventually introduce myself but at the min I need some help and advice. I have a 88 1127 streetfighter and I have started having some problems with the gears. 1st problem is finding neutral. With the engine running or not I'm finding it hard to find neutral,it jus skip 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st,takes a while to find. Also once in neutral if engine running it has jumped into gear and stalled almost falling off the stand!!! 2nd issue is that it's really difficult to come down gears, with 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st being the worst. Any advice will be appreciated Quote
phatphil78 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 I'm ok with spanners,I have flushed the fluid, tightened the chain and adjusted the gear linkage which was bit loose. It's still bit iffy tho! Quote

Start with the slavecilinder; I've had more or less the same thing and it turned out the piston was leaking and therefor letting fluid out (but only ever so slightly) and air in. Before anyone asks; no, I don't know how it did this, but it did. Quote
phatphil78 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 I did notice a very slight leak in the pipe from the reservoir,is it possible that a small spilt in the pipe could draw air in although the reservoir is pretty full? Quote
Ben Slabby Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You'll be losing pressure if there's any leaks at all. The hydraulic clutch on my slabby is pretty iffy too, the slaves seem to leak quite easily. Usually takes a few pumps of the lever if it's been stood a while. Quote

Katana Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 If its doing it with engine NOT running I doubt it is anything to do with clutch slave/leaver Quote
teltwosheds Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Are your arms parallel on the lever and gear shaft linkages? (it's caught me out before dough!) Quote
