clivegto Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 Mrs GTO got called into work for 3 hours today (Christmas day) so I sneaked out to the shed. I ordered a 20 ton press for Christmas which I put together the other nigh. Pressed the Triumph stem out to remove the bearing then removed the lock stops with Mr Grinder. Pressed the stem back in then pressed the new bearing on, fitted the bearing outers to the frame after leaving them in the freezer for a while which shrinks them making them a piece of pish to fit, but you all knew that right Mery Christmas people's 9 Quote

clivegto Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Looking at pictures of my mate Andys Harris last night which he had at Donington on the OSS stand I remembered Metmachex swinging arm had been turned upside down to fit the frame then I remembered I had a Metmachex arm of middle weight yam fitment in me stash of stuff . So I'm going to make the one I have fit the mag frame as well. Will need a bit of chop chop but that's what we do hear on OSS right now whereas my grinder 5 Quote

clivegto Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 A few measurements and a some squiggles with the sharpie and I recon the arm needs a new swinging arm pivot point where x marks the spot and a top shock mount making, easy peasy right . Metmachex arm will then be the same length as the standard Harris one on full extension it can't be any shorter because of the cross piece joining it together. Am happy with this as my turbo Harris is 2 1/2" over and handles great. 3 Quote
Allspeeds Posted January 5 Posted January 5 @Paulmno it’s not mate it’s the frame that’s upside down Quote

clivegto Posted Tuesday at 04:14 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:14 PM Took the casting line of the bottom yoke with a flap wheel then cleaned it up with some scotch brite and then a coat of wax. Ground the lettering of 8 m8 stainless bolts and polished them up to bolt the yokes together. Trumpet forks are in pretty good condition so have just cleaned them up for now. 4 Quote
