CockneyRick Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Bike looks bang on , even better in the metal , be good to have a spare starter or a reconditioned one or possibly borrow one of someone local if it starts quicker job done ;-)Nobody round here owns a GS1000 but will look in to getting a recon/new one too? KATANAMANGLER Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Not knowing my 8 valve technology very well. would the an EFE starter motor and intermediate starter gear fit the starter clutch? This works for the ET engines when they are slow to turn over. Quote
Matt-Man Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) Rick, have you got an earth strap from the back of the engine direct to the - terminal on the battery ?I had a big bore ET that really struggled when hot to spin over on the button... Turned out that the powder coat on the frame and the paint on the engine was giving too much resistance and not allowing a good connection.I scrubbed a small bit of paint off one of the case bolt mounts at the rear of the engine to bare metal and then ran a strap straight to the - Terminal on the battery and the issue was gone ! Worth considering ! Edited July 9, 2015 by Matt-Man Quote
CockneyRick Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Yep frame is PC'd & engine painted. Think i will make up a secondary strap direct to battery. Can't do any harm (unless i stick it to the pos side) 1 Quote
