  1. Still need advice on this? Both my TLS' have R engines fitted.
  2. So, anyone here that knows me will know that I love twins. I picked this up earlier in the year, and while it looked ok, it was actually a polished turd. The rear suspension links were seized solid, left fork worn through through the Chrome, Copper, Zinc (or whatever the layers are) and into to the base metal. (Fucked). Sticky calipers and even cracked headers. The rest of the bike is in reasonable condition with recent paint and a few new bits to make it look nice. Inspired by this mornings Turbo lunacy, I thought I’d pull the TLR off the bench as it’s nearing completion and get it outside for the first time since the revamp. So, what do have here? GSXR600 K5 forks with some modified internals to fit TL1000R Hyperpro Progressive springs. RSV Mille Brembo Wheels. Triumph 675 Nissin Radials and Carbon Ceramic pads. (Yokes and Axle are TL) Maxton Rear shock and linkage. Full Yoshi system (Taken from the KaTL) Period aftermarket undertray that actually has BULBS!!! Brembo Rear Caliper and a one off 28/25mm rear axle to suit the wheels. 525 Chain and sprocket conversion. Next up is fresh paint for the tank and a new Fuel Pump and it’s ready to roll!!! Today I fired it up for the first time with the pipes on and it sounds sweet! (First few pics are how it was when it arrived)
  3. KaTL Turbo…. First ride! Damp slimy roads and a Turbo’d TL boosting at 7psi what could possibly go wrong? It’s actually really well behaved, spools low down with plenty of grunt. Pre-boost it rides exactly like a normally aspirated TL. Wind it on and it’s like “ HOLY-FUCK!!!!” Lightning fast acceleration and an amazing soundtrack from the 4” Exit pipe. It’s quick…. It’s REALLY FUCKING QUICK!!!!
  4. Big ask…. But, does anyone have a pressure plate from a Gen1 busa that I could borrow to compare to the TL1000R unit? Curreny mid-build into the KaTL Turbo and am considering a lock-up clutch. Nothing about for the TLR but loads for Busas for the obvious reasons. I have checked the part numbers and they are different; however, that doesn’t mean they won’t fit and work effectively. It could be that it’s like 0.5mm thicker etc. The Busa already shares some clutch parts with the TL like the centre boss and back torque limiter so I’m edging my bets but I’m not 100% sure. If someone can help that would be excellent. Thanks Matt.
  5. Little bit more done to the KaTL this weekend. Soon be ready for its maiden voyage. Im only going to run 7psi initially, just to ensure everything is right with it. Next year I’m looking to get a Turbo engine built!
  6. Ok… progress… I found these on https://www.streetfighters.com.au/showthread.php?27198-My-TL1000S-Streetfighter
  7. Yep, 100% if you ditch the ram air tubes you lose a bit off the top end. If you open up the airbox it’ll free off the bottom end and mid range though.
  8. So it turns out that it’s not a cut down fairing, they were actually purpose made radiator shrouds made my a French company a while ago. Can’t find any more details just now, but I’ll keep on it.
  9. So it’s started…. Boosted TL on the way.
  10. I’ve never seen it before, But ilL ask about on the TL FB pages. someone will know it!
  11. I can measure that for you tomorrow. TLS i assume?
  12. Given the TLR a bit of an update! Dymag wheels, different forks, PFM Discs, R1 Calipers, Gilles Tooling adjustable clip-ons, tyres and a little bit of paint. Saddle is away for upholstery! I got rid of the green as I got sick of being asked if it was a ‘Ninja’
  13. Gold Anodise... It looked a bit rough, scratched and Mia-matched!!! Caustic and mops for the win!!!
  14. No mate, I have experienced it though. my last S cracked at the headstock. (Clumsy wheelies) Usually they go at the rotary damper mounts if they’re not tight. Those were replaced years ago and I check them regularly so it helps prevent it happening.
  15. So, keeping with the Candy Blue theme, I thought I’d get my rocker covers done too..... It all looks a bit much when it’s exposed but once the fairing is fitted and all the other crap, it’ll be mostly hidden with a few subtle peeks of blue poking out. It kinda goes well with the OZ wheels.
  16. In addition to the clutch I also serviced and dressed up the suspension. For this not aware, the TL’s have a seperate damper/ spring arrangement. The ‘SOAS’ (Spring On A Stick) assembly in standard for comprises of tube, with a damper rod systems and a spring. But.... There is no oil, gas or anything else inside to lubricate the rod and bush. Fast forwards 20 years and these things are drier than Nicola Sturgens gusset (Well, you just wouldn’t would ya!) Thankfully the TL Community has a bit of a strong following and there are a few guys making some cool stuff. Frank Graffy is one of those guys. The work he and Roman put out is your typical German Engineering. Flawless and very well executed. So we have a billet, rebuildable (and therefore serviceable) SOAS.... There’s also a pretty Gucci Billet ride height adjuster too that they do. I had the spring powder coated in a Candy blue and this the end result.
  17. Bit of an update.... Swingarm has been pulled out and sold (modded TLR arm) in favour of a JMC which is away getting fettled! Upgraded the clutch from a standard TLR unit (engine is a 1080cc TLR) to a GSXR1000 K8 Slipper clutch. The pressure plate was a bit ‘plain’ looking so I stuck it in the lathe and dressed it off a little. Then it went away to be cerakoted with a product specially designed for engine internals. GSXR clutch basked has been mated to the TLR Primary Drive/ back plate so the oil pump drive remains unaffected. Few more things to sort out and it’ll be ready for later this year... Maybe I’ll get some proper miles on it! We live in hope eh?
  18. My TLS has had a bit of an overhaul. 1080cc motor, PC5 and a custom map, New forks, yokes, wheels, brakes and chain & sprockets. Its as mad as a box of frogs! Love it....
  19. Hahaha.... That was 11 years ago ffs...... let it go!!!
