mrutah12 Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Hello again was replacing the starter got it in then I started to put the starter Idler gear back on when I came across these cracks and a piece fell off in my hand it appears to me that its not load bearing do you think I could use JB weld or something like it to repair it I know the stator cover holds the other half of the pin so I know it would stay straight any and all advise would greatly be appreciated Quote
Gixer1460 Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 If its where I think it is - it is most certainly load bearing as it holds and locates the steel pin of the idler and resists the axial force applied through the gear. The cover helps hold the outer side but that's only 50% support. I wouldn't risk JB Weld - really needs welding! Quote
Pudzrx Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Cause and effect , is what you should ask yourself. You can see the effect , what was the cause ? Puddy 1 Quote
