Captn Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 Thanks @scott-s. Checking it out now. Hopefully this coronacrap will be long gone by then. Are you going this year? I need a vacation. Looks like just the place. Quote
scott-s Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I plan to be there! Make hotel reservations now. Event tickets go on sale in June. Quote
Poldark Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 MotoAmerica event at VIR in May is still on schedule according to the website. Corona panic should be well over by then. At my house, we are looking at making a family trip out of it. Quote
Captn Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 Hopefully VIR is still a go. Time to get out and see some machinery. Holding down this recliner is getting old. Quote
Gixxerguy86 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I'd be interested in seeing if anyone resides in Texas, namely Houston or San Antonio Quote
Captn Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Hello @Gixxerguy86welcome to OSS. Hope you can get a crew together out there. Quote
BigT Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Poldark, if you want to find Suzuki meet ups in the USA, you'll have to look at some USA oriented sites, on the web, or Facebook Quote
scott-s Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 This is the best place I've found for this specific genera of OSS. There's the GSResources site, though they tend to focus more on the GS and the older models. But still some great Suzuki knowledge there. (Mods, I hope it's OK to post a link. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum.php ) Quote

H-D has jumped the shark; became a parody character of itself. In a few years, I expect the US market to become flooded with used H-D bikes as the owners decide they are too old to ride. I like the old GS Suzuki's, thegsresoures.com has great info and knowledgeable members, but they stay away from the "re-engineering" aspects. They don't inspire me much. There are some specific model line forums, Suzuki and other brands, making the scope of discussion feel too narrow and the membership spread too thin. There are some good general chopper, street-fighter, or café-racer sites, but open to all makes and models, leaving the scope too broad. FacePalm motorcycle groups are probably good for social and meetup purposes, but I stay away from FacePalm. OSS is a good format. I'll stick with it. Maybe in the near future, there will be enough members to create regional "events", "for sale", and "wanted" sections. Quote

Recommendations? The GS Resources. They have a Meetingplace forum that has various rallies and meetups posted. Or, post one yourself. While this site is more about mods, GSR is more about repair and riding. Lots of daily GS riders there Also, the Vintage Suzuki owners page on Facebook. They host a ride at the Dragon and a meetup at Barber Vintage Sadly, the Suzuki GS Owners page on FB is crowded with people needing to post, regardless of experience, although there are a number of knowledgable people there There is nothing like OSS I've found in the States Edited March 23, 2020 by BigT Quote
Captn Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 Right on @Poldarkand @BigT and @scott-s. This site is by far the best I've found. I'm camping out here. Quote
Captn Posted April 16, 2020 Author Posted April 16, 2020 Looks like we've had a few more stateside enthusiasts join here lately. Welcome aboard all!! Quote
Poldark Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Virginia International Raceway website now shows the MotoAmerica event as "cancelled". Quote
Captn Posted April 17, 2020 Author Posted April 17, 2020 @Poldark. Yeah, I saw that. As we are running short of time in April and it was scheduled for the beginning of May I get it. Doesn't look like they rescheduled it either. Quote
Captn Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 Looks like MotoAmerica is on for 31 July to 2 Aug. Any stateside OSS members interested? Quote
Poldark Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 2021 MotoAmerica is scheduled for May 21-23 at Virginia International Raceway. MotoAmerica - May 21 at Virginia International Raceway (virnow.com) Kids get in free with paying adult. Quote

A closer one would be great. All of us OSS North America members are so spread out. The UK members are practically neighbors. Are y'all thinking of going to the 1/8/22 event in Newark? Maybe we should ask the mods to start regional sub forums so we can coordinate rides and meet ups more easily! Quote
Poldark Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I assume that's Newark, New Jersey? Could you provide a link for anyone interested? Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Olsdkoolsuzuki.info has always had an international mandate. It's always very rewarding when we see our site providing the basis for fellow OSSers to network and form real world connections. While it is true that most of the real world events happen in Europe, it doesn't have to stay that way, I would love to see that evolve to more accurately represent our international membership. 3 Quote
Poldark Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 MotoAmerica 2022, May 20-22 Virginia International Raceway MotoAmerica Superbike at Virginia – Virginia International Raceway (virnow.com) Anyone interested? I might be taking the family. Quote
Poldark Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I took my son to the MotoAmerica race event; well worth it. Very nice venue. Next time I'll try to draw more attention to it, and maybe a few other OSS members can attend. Quote
