RickC Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Hi all, I've just removed the clutch basket nut from a GSX1100et with a rattlegun, it came off easy enough. I tried using locking plates from another GSXR thread on here but I could not get them to work with GSX1100et. A question for the knowledgeable, can I rattle the nut back on when I come to refit? Should I make up the 2 steel clutch plate tool and torque up or is there another way to torque up that I'm missing. Thanks, Rick Quote
Duckndive Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) The Nut should have a Tab Washer "WASHER (09167-25007)" behind it that is used to prevent the nut coming loose yes its defiantly worth making the correct tool to hold the hub while you torque it up Edited August 6, 2019 by Duckndive 3 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Try this first. Put it into top gear, lock the back wheel and apply the back brake. If that don't work ... your next ad in 'Wanted' will be, 'one plain and one bonded clutch plate' ... 1 Quote
Jonboy Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I made up a tool using 1" wide flat steell bar. Angled it at the ends to fit into basket and inner basket. Proper torque acheived. A bit like the picture but with all the plates removed 2 Quote
Duckndive Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I use this for oil boiler and air cooled clutchs... 3 steels stich welded together for each motor bar is long enough to hook under or over foot peg to lock 2 Quote
johnr Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 rattle gun willdo it though. i just did the centre nut on a gsxr diaphragm clutch, popped it in gear, back brake on, and the gun got it off in a few seconds. just dont forget the tab washer on the gsx just in case. Quote
