akronos Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 this morning I adjusted the valve clearance, setting it as manual to 0.10: I state that I have a GS1150. I also removed the chain tensioner to clean it. Obviously all the procedures done with the crankshaft at the right T point. When I reassembled everything, this annoying ticking occurs, I don't understand if it depends on the chain tensioner or on the valves. Vids and sound of my engine: https://youtu.be/sGF1iL2z6gY Quote
Gixer1460 Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Sounds about normal to me! They are a bit agricultural / mechanical sounding - maybe yours was too quiet because of tight valves? Trust you didn't turn the engine whilst tensioner was out? 1 Quote
akronos Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 I found the problem, a thread of the rocker arm is ruined and the threaded bar with the nut no longer tightens. How do I proceed now? Do I have to buy the whole new piece or can I fix the thread? Quote
Gixer1460 Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 You could try a helicoil but I wouldn't -much safer to find a good s/hand one or brand new? New available from Robinsons @ about £70! Quote
