Just came across this:
I've no idea how reliable the information is. Though it seems like someone made an effort making the sheet so who knows.

If you like the finish on it as a piece, why decide now?

These days there ought to be more choice for long forks shirley? Some cruisers have long usd forks with radial mounts. Ktm have some long forks with seemingly reasonable travel?

Photo de problem?

I’d go for penetrating oil. Conical shape should be excellent in this case. Could you pressurise it to blow it out once it’s lubed loose?
Had an recessed airscrew giving problems. Kept it wet for days and kept trying. Took a while but got it out.
Lube it from both the front and the back (fnarr)

Forks bend too so make sure you have a little extra. If need be try fit something soft that wears very easy so you can verify the room required.

That e-marked might be gold soon..

In Japan they make these:

Generally shorter load path means stiffer. By load path meaning the headstock to the swingarm pivot. The beams are further apart which probably helps as well.

When I'm putting forks together I like to keep the finish nice. And yokes tend to be tight. What I do is block the groove. Then screw a bolt in from the wrong end (yoke permitting) and gently push against that blockage. This way the yoke can be opened ever so slightly. This makes it much easier to install the leg. Keep it tight enough and it'll still hold the leg when you run of for beer/tea/tools etc.
Obviously if you overdo it then pang, yoke ruined. So be warned y'all.

That's a thing of beauty! That's a extortionate amount of time to look for one part!

Agreed, that'll never look right if the rest of the bike is mostly GS1000.
Kinda depends on what your cuppatea is when it comes to this. There are rwu mudguards that look pretty cool. ZX9R and Thunderspace spring to mind?

No, I do sometimes trade a bike or 2.
But these bikes are special. Not in it for the profit.
As long as I can afford it, I'll keep them and work on them.
Although having 27-ish bikes isn't helping...27? F me! you greedy bastard! Leave something for the rest will ye! You could open a museum!

To add another variable.. speed. Might grow the tire a tiny bit.
Without having any realworld figures, 10mm seems plausible everything considered. Maybe someone curious with a running bike can do some tests. Video maybe or the foam?
