  1. Mk2 pipe is done. 63mm tube with 2" proper baffle tube the full length of the straight part at the end.
  2. Blue hardtail frame is the first one. Red and white one was the second. I made bearing cups to fit the GN forks and yokes into the blue frame. Axle plates were rough and needed sorting out to fit the wheel in. I tried the GN 400 wheel but the hub is huge and the sprocket carrier is offset too far to let me centre the rim. I had a Chinese 125cc bike that was scrap but the wheels are decent. They are the same size rims as the GN but much narrower hubs. Axle plates modified and tidied up, just need to sort chain adjusters. Axle plates were 17mm ish, probably Imperial, not sure what the frame was made for but looks like ride side chain originally. I used the 15mm chinky wheel rear spindle. Axle slots were rough so I opened them up to 21mm, got them even and made top hats to fit the 15mm spindle. I prefer cast wheels to spoke and think these look good This is the other one, popped up for sale local too cheap to ignore so my mate snapped it up. Re made the side stand into a bolt on one. The frame of the red one had been painted but had no stand, seat, or footrest mounts welded on!
  3. Like buses you wait ages then 2 turn up at once. My friend that I built the GS550 chop for last year bought me a hardtail frame and I sold him a project GN400 I had in the lock up. I started working on the frame, then he bought a second GN 400 chop and bought that to me, so I am on both at the same time.
  4. Mk2 pipe is being made Monday, I'll update with new pics then.
  5. Does anyone know how long they are? I can have the length of the actual thick part of the spindle, or the overall length with the reduced thread. Thanks in advance.

  7. I got a 12ton press for £89. The courier took a long time to deliver it so I ended up with a £15 refund on shipping. Made it £64. Happy with that.
  8. You can buy cable on a roll by the metre. I use nylon lined outer and make my own cables. I have 1.5mm for throttles, 2mm for clutch and 2.5mm for brake cable. I use solderless nipples and solder on ones. Even the solderless ones I solder them on once set in the right place. I even make moulds and cast nipples on sometimes. I made a solder cup with a stainless cooking measure and some ally. I got a Venhill bird cage tool at Netley Marsh one year which are expensive but work perfect.

You can buy direct from them, or a place in the Netherlands on Eblag. https://www.ricambiweiss.com/en/ Or if you want to keep it UK Look for Unatec, or Bardney Racing, they make good stuff.
  10. What diameter is the end pipe on yours? And what is the baffle like?
  11. It's not so much noise that is the problem, although the owner does classic track days so needs it around 108dB to pass scrutineering. At the moment the 2" pipe is restricting the power of the 1085 tuned motor even with no dB killer fitted. As soon as we fit a dB killer it chokes up even more. The 63mm pipe has 60mm bore where the 2" pipe only has 48mm bore. I have some 2" perforated baffle tube. The plan is to make a freer flowing semi quiet pipe that lets all the power of the motor out.
  12. Mk1 pipe is too restrictive. Mk 2 is being worked out with 63mm tube and proper baffling.

    Bandit frame damper

    That's what I was thinking.
  14. I was asked to modify the exhaust on a Wes Cooley replica because the end can it had was too modern and at the wrong angle. I got it looking similar to the stove pipe Yoshi on the original.
  15. Do people use the frame dampers on Bandit frames? I got a Bandit frame and it has a damper behind the headstock. I will be cutting the seat subframe off and making a new one, not sure if it has a second damper in the rear.
  16. Have some top hat shims/spacers made to fit the swing arm slots and use the 20mm spindle.
  17. https://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/shop/online-store/suzuki-parts-finder/gsf-bandit/gsf600/y-k4-2000-2004-mk2-naked-and-faired.htm#!gsf600mk2oilpump It looks to be at the base of the right hand (as you look at it) one, the gear side of the motor. The other side is dry but both look corroded so I said to have both replaced at once.
  18. How expensive is it to have the outlet pipes at the front of the motor replaced? My friend came round and asked me to look for an oil leak and it looks to be one of the outlet pipes. I haven't done one before so I'd thought I'd ask for advice.
  19. How long are the standard dog bones bolt holes between centres on a 600 Bandit. A friend has a Mk2 600 Bandit and I think it has a jack up fitted. I did a rough measure of the dog bones and they are approximately 160 to 165mm hole centres. I'm looking to see if standard ones are different. The bike leans over too far on the sidestand and it's a little tall for her. I want to check the centres before spending on a lowering kit. If it's been jacked up I'll put stock dog bones on and try that first.
  20. Is there a comparison chart or list of the different lengths of 20mm diameter rear wheel spindles across GSXR's and Bandits? I have searched but can't find one. I have a few spindles in a box and I can't remember what they are for.
