  1.

That initial bit of throttle and lower revs is controlled by the pilot jet, you normally have to upsize the pilot fuel jet with pods. The fuel level in the float bowls has a fair effect in this region too. If you've already turned the mixture fuel screws out 3 turns, you could try another turn to see if this enriches the mixture enough - the pilot will need to be changed though I reckon - if you've changed that, then the fuel level will need to change. If you've not altered the fuel level/altered float heights, it shouldn't be them - unless you've knocked them.

  2. Looks like the vent hose from the top of the cam cover, mine goes between carbs 2 and 3 and then connects to a male plastic connector at the bottom of the air box - to recycle vented gases from the vent tower.

  3. I've made up some aluminium dog bones, I made them with 184mm centre to centre length - standard is 188mm. My Nitron shock lifted the rear  15mm, the dog bones should lift it another 10mm (ish).  Shorter centre distance means higher ride height.

  4. Ouch !!! - if you check the valve clearances you might find some odd gaps, which would be valves.

I reckon it's time to check it through - if you've lost oil then a ring could've broken which would lose the oil and done some 'bad stuff' elsewhere !!

Bit chuffy and rhythmic tapping like valve problems. I'd want to check it through completely though.

  5. You might need to clean the K and N filters, looks like they're dirty. The little cone filters can limit top end power, they won't drop any power lower down though - the larger, off-set ones are better. Someone has spent  money on the bike and loved it, always a good sign - looking forward to what you think.

  6. Dynojet jets are differently sized to Mikuni and jet needle wouldn't work with Mikuni needle jet etc. If everything is standard it leaves : dirt in carbs/worn parts/not set correctly, Check the v. clearances though, then work back through if required .

It was always on standard jets the bike is totally standard as well I'm going to check valve clearances next

    That's good YCUF6, reduces the possibilities !

  8. Very good Banoffee ! there's an old proverb - better a leek in the hand than a leak in your pants.

    Re. bike.

Could  have shrunken 'o' ring seals on your fuel pilot screws, some carb cleaners aren't seal friendly.

Compression seems good and even, so engine seems fit.

Check valve clearances too, before trying to balance the carbs.

Have you returned the carbs to stock jets ?

  9. The engine number will tell you what bike the engine came from (sounds like someone swapped engines) - last OC GSXR engine as JD and Capt have said were 1127, which have shims sitting directly on the valve spring retainers.

  10. There was a 1988 1100 in the same colours too, have seen more in Australia than over here. I'm not sure what they're celebrating - did they win the Suzuka 8 hr ?    It was only the colours that were different, no extra bits that I could tell. I hadn't seen a 750 in that livery before, so a Japanese market thing I guess.

  11. Is the cable fully seated in the recess by the carbs ? Have had my cable caught outside the recess before - wondered what the hell was happening as my bike revved it's nuts off ! - it would take all the slack in the system to get even close to shutting the butterflies . . . hard to get the bottom adjuster nut tightened too.
