  1. Hi folks, what´s the biggest bore you can do on a GS1000 engine ?

    Reason for my question:

Seems like i have bought a block bored out to 78.5mm -- but without pistons.

Seller claims they fit cases without modifications, i will need to find suitable pistons and rings though

Anyone knows what pin size are stock GS rods - and can they handle pistons that size ?

Mine was a slingshot with an shortstroke engine from Suzuki's Motorsport department in Germany. It had 13.5 comp on the outer cylinders and 12.8 comp on the two center cylinders. A friend of mine had 113hp on the wheel on his slingshot and weighed 10 kg less than me and his was a bit slower than mine. Both had -2 on the front sprocket

?? what do you mean  - the engine had different compression ratios on the cylinders ?

  3. Digged through some parts, and came up with a set of reground GSXR-Cams i do not have any info on.

Maybe someone here knows what they are, and has a spec sheet.

They have the usual 27A IN and EX markings on them, but are stamped on the side with the following: 12048  2 95

cam base circle is 26.80mm on both IN and Ex,

Base circle and lobe lift are 32.80 IN and 32.90 EX, so that comes to a lobe lift of 6.00 (.236 inch) and 6.10 mm (.240 inch)

Is there any formula to calculate from cam lift to valve lift ?

Because all info on the web i find is based on valve lifts, not cam lift.

  4. always these decisions......Big CC numbers, and then decide what do do with it, natural aspiration > big valve head with lumpy cams with revised valve springs.

Or i spare the costs, stick with std valves and go with a turbo to overcome the obstacle of small valve area, just add HD valve springs.

Or i win the lottery, and take both, and shit my pants when riding it then.

I think, i will first dig through all my collected parts to see what i will come up with.

  5. Yes, came up with the same results while checking online catalogues.

It´s actually quite funny, to mix´n match different parts, but i try to stick with OEM parts, and maintain a budget on the modifications.

Maybe you can fit valves with slimmer stem, when you also change the guides in the head - but i guess this is getting expensive then.
