  1. Just new bearings to suit the crank 1100 cylinder studs and open up the crankcases slightly to allow the cylinders to go down and shave a little off top case for the primary gear, its a piece of piss really.

  2. Over bored 750s will never make the power of  a 1100, if you want to fit a 1100 engine just blitz your 750 engine and build the 1100 engine into the 750 cases problem with the  numbers solved.

  3. Just back from the pre TT races on the billown circuit in the south of the I.O.M, Dennis got a 3rd on my bike in the classic superbike race, the bike ran fine during practice and the race, never put a spanner on it only to change wheels, weather was shit race day. will post a better picture when I can find one. below picture of the podium and results sheet.

Think the 900's were ... but the oversize boys rightly pointed out that factory spec pistons were rocking horse shit and worth more than a basic bike for a set! Hey - it's classics racing - so for the IOM it's always been about the show! The racers obviously think differently. There was an article, well written, about the whole situation, which sided with allowing the oversize pistons on the grounds of cost. Not sure whether it was addressed in the regs ... but pretty sure there were carefully worded changes.

The pistons story holds no water at all if you go to omega pistons at Blackheath they will make you a set of forged pistons .

  5. There is actually a clear set of rules laid down and always has been, but as with most things with competition there are people who push the boundaries and then some who just downright cheat. as an example the zxrs are easy to cheat with. because of the year of the bike they should be 750cc but are allowed plus manufacturers max standard oversize. so to cheat you either fit zx7r pistons 3mm bigger  or the crank assy from the 900 or in some cases even a 900 engine as they look almost identical. I was talking to brian crighton the rotary Norton man in the paddock at the classic  TT, he say's to me peter's bike a zxr was doing 164hp on the dyno, he then smiles and said the works ones never made that when they were new, the good thing is they often go bang but yes I have heard that they may turn a blind eye once again.

Apparently it only fits the slabby 750 tanks(34mm spacing). Fortunately I have an 1100 and a 750 tank. The thundercat fits too. This one.

This information comes curtesy of @Mr Cosmo and @Del. Thanks Chaps.

They will foul the oil pipe and if you lift the tank up the frame rail gets in the way of the fuel pipe . this is on a slabby 1100.

General rule of thumb across most pistons is 0.003/0.004" per 1.0" of piston dia. Only if they use coated alloy barrels - eg. busa can the gaps be tightened as both will expand at similar rates.

Are you sure your not getting that mixed up with ring end gap.

i am building one with zx9 pistons, gives 850. regretfully it will not result in  as high compression as i'd like but considering pistons cost all of 50 euro (for the 4 of them ) nice return on investment. comp  height is lower by about 2mm, so gonna get it back from milling the block, no biggie. actually project is on hold exactly at that point: bigger sleeves are already installed and bored (off a 89-90 750), "just" need to do a dry build to nail the exact dim to mill down the block. project on hold due to vintage road racing duties :)  let me know if you need more info.

Ask canamant on here as he has already done it.

  10. Anyone used these APE heavy duty studs on an 1127 barrel , when fitting genuine o rings to the oil feed studs there does not appear to be not a lot of clearance for the oil, I have no doubt it will get past but does the restriction have any adverse affects?.

@Leblowski's Turbo is a Bakker. The company  is still trading and you can get anything they ever made done new, if your pockets are deep enough.

Most thing we now take for granted in chassis-design and technology was invented by this man.

This is the man on the left that is truly responsible for modern type frames that transfer load from the steering head to the swingarm pivot , most modern frames use this principal . can anyone name the frame.

  12. Right oil cooled appears to be 310mm from the centre of number 1 to the centre of number 4 and number 3 to 4 is 120mm  the water cooled is 290 from 1 to 4 and 120 2 to 3  hope this helps.
