    Thanks for the reply vizman.

I read the rules and quite enjoyed reading them. I had an eerie feeling posting about the "blandit" after reading through the rules. The reasons I have this and not a GSXR are

    1. cost of GSXR's here in Ireland

    2. higher road tax on the GSXR

    3. The fact that the insurance company go mental when you mention bandit and just hang up on you if you mention GSXR being a 19 year old provisional licence holder. Managed to convince them to insure me on the blandit "restricted to 33bhp... pffft" , yes I know its risky lying to the insurance but at my age there isnt much other ways around it.

I am having trouble tracking down a slabby cdi cheaply, I am wondering if there are any aftermarket ignition units I could use or would they even be worth it?

Just  take the single pick up off your bandit engine put it on the gsxr engine and it will work fine .

  2. Yes it was registered i had it brand I thought I bought it in 82 turns out it was 83, rode it two years in the manx gp 83 and 84 was one of the first if not the first to use a production bike for those races. in those days the race was six laps 226 miles and two pit stops that bike was so comfortable after a tz Yamaha . it was registered WNT40Y is it still about?. for 85 I had my first gsxr 750.

  3. There is nothing about the 1985 engines in there ....

The  85/6/7 engines ran smaller main bearings than the j or k engine, then for the l and m they reverted back to the original size. you can fit the 1100 crank and top end to the j or k cases you would have to bore the cases where the barrel fits but its do able I did this many years ago. the early 750 top end will fit straight on a bandit 600.

  4. If this is true (and I assume it is) on your bike, there is something seriously wonky with the frame. I did this swap more than a few times and I have NEVER had to modify anything.

Chainrun cannot run un-true, because the front sprocket on all oilcooled engines was in the same position, from the earliest 750 to the last 1157 in the Bandit.

Frontend; any slingshot drops straight in, lockstops are where they should be and bearings are the same.

Not quite right there are three different output shafts for 750s and two of them are different lengths, from L onwards they are longer from the bearing to the spline to move the sprocket out to accommodate the wider tyre . on early 1100s they had the same output shaft bearing as 750s then it was modified to a wider bearing so I would say that that shaft would be longer also as both the slingshot 1100 and bandit run 180 tyres.

  5. Now that's just greedy,!! I'm sure I've some pics of them in action.

You may have seen them at the pre TT or the CLASSIC TT, the rider is from Ballamena not far from you.

  6. Been trying to up load some photos for ages, think I have got it now. this was taken just before I went to the classic TT in August I took the skoal one and the one with the red seat.

  7. cheers lads , i would like to do a iom tt aswell but thought this would be a good way to go see what the island etc is all about , also would love to see the classics in action ,

i notice theres a lot of places advertise things like tickets for this that and the other , is it worth buying anything or can you basically pay at the gate/door when your there ?

The TT or the manx/ classic TT is the greatest  free show on earth all's you have to do is get there. you don't have to pay to watch if you don't want to its 37.75 miles per lap if you can't find somewhere to watch for nothing then you must be blind . camping is very good at peel and plenty of room, you should go you won't regret it, if you do go then go to either the top of bray hill (st ninians) or the bottom and watch Michael Dunlop through on the big Suzuki it will make you go weak at the knees. I am just putting the final touches to my bikes that are entered in the classic TT  both GSXR 1100H's one blue/white the other skoal bandit.
