Had the same thinking but kind of glad someone is giving it a new life
  2. As said above, I prefer brake Cleaner, but if it comes to life after you squirt a bit in then you know it's a carb problem More and more these days it is
  3. Two ways I checked with carbs off gently blow in the vacuum hole, slides should raise up the other way is cover vacum hole with thumb and gently life slide you should get resistance, and stop, don't force it!! But the light test on the diaphragm is how I found it holding diaphragm up to a strong light could see perishing that was not visable to the naked eye
  4. The last time I had this on my ez after a lot of cleaning and checking it turned out the diaphragm had perished, OK on the blow test but no good in working conditions Just a thought
  5. June for me, be good to meet up and put faces to names and it's a decent distance to ride for a day out
  6. That is bloody impressive!! You must be well chuffed with that
  7. Trouble is we've been mates for nearly 50 years don't know where the time has gone So he's got it back under the strict understanding he doesn't let anyone mess with it
  8. Finally sorted, mixture of wet cdi, someone pissing about with carbs and contaminated fuel, thanks to everyone who offered advice
  9. You are probably right @Dezza but popular tanks they have blanks for maybe cheaper than we think, though probably not as cheap as some
  10. Pretty sure Parkers over in Bournemouth do them as well, seem to remember them supplying Henry Cole
  11. So I only had an hour on it but@MrKris you were part right cdi was wet and nasty, fuel tap was intermittent, vacuum was being taken off carb no3 changed to2 shorter pipe seems to have sorted that issue needles were all on different groves, and I suspect the fuel was contaminated Taken on a short blast is running at least, probably need a couple more hours on it to be sure
  12. Yeah I will be working thru it once I'm off nights But you are right @Dezza they ain't cheap and quality can be suspect
  13. Once I've calmed down I'll get into it properly, it's just pissed me off as I have my efe in pieces and should be on that, not pissing around with this
  14. Apparently it turns out his neighbour heard it running and offered to tune it for him he's a bit of a no it all = twat
  15. Thanks @Dezza that will be my next move Thanks @Gixer1460 and @TonyGeeyeah i am going to put standard carbs on that I know are good at the weekend, I have got a feeling the carbs that where on there will need to be gone through and checked, and that is a job for when I'm a little more calmand have a little more time
