  1. Strange but true, my 1986 GS1150’s clutch slips in 4th and 5th @ w.o.t. in the upper rev range.  It’s a stock bike with pipe and carb jetting.  The clutch works great until it hits higher r’s in the higher gears.  I’m using dino motorcycle specific oil.  Thought about putting in some Barnett springs but the site has two spring sets for the 1150, one with no particular description and the other set denotes heavy duty application. Low mileage bike with stock power, what to do?

  2. Custom pistons, to your specs, could be had from a manufacturer.  The stock pistons, I believe, are cast, light and reliable for normally aspirated engines.  They also have less thermal distortion than a forged piston allowing for a more snug cylinder fit.  Milling the head, fly cutting the piston valve reliefs and degreeing the cams just might work.

  3. Yoshimura does make good stuff, their cams make good power and don’t punish the valvetrain. Reasonable power band for street or road course.  Are you going to use fuel?  In the U.S. the highest pump gas commonly available is 93 octane and most of the guys street racing won’t go over 12.5:1 on a big bore motor with the 93 octane
