  1. Just finished my GS1000G and put it back on the road.

As some of you will see it's not quite standard ;) NTV650 single sider which was on the old incarnation, NTV650 front wheel with new disc and a GSXR1000k2 6 pot, standard body work ish, GS850 tank (as it is really a GS850 when it came from Suzuki), GS1000g side panels, GS1000 tail piece, GSX550ef clocks, rassk rear sets. The engine has an 1100cc big bore, ported CV head, GS750 cams (as they let the motor rev quicker), GSXR1100G 34mm carbs. Braced frame. Etc, etc, etc.

  2. If it was me, and not running the bike on the drag/race strip but on the road, I'd just get a good Dyna S and Dyna coils/HT leads. Been down the route of 8 plug heads and Magnetos, and for the street - apart from looking good - there's no point. ;)

  3. Hope you dont mind me asking, but where is the guy who did the repairs based? I have a set of katana cases with the front mounts broken off. :(

He's in Macclesfield, he's a bit slow but a good job and cheep, the man who took them over to him and did the alli blanks and then the turning out is in Whaly Brige just over the hill.

  4. Might want to put the carbs back on aswell ;)

Hows that chinese big bore piston set holding up ???

Yes new carb rubbers here now ;) and the chinese 1100cc big bore pistons are doing the job very well had no problems at all with them and It's gave the bike a nice bit of torque :) done a lot of miles with it now well worth the cash.

  5. Not 100%, but I would think about 100-110 bhp at the rear wheel, will also be running with GSXR 36mm CV carbs, I know a old GS1000 I had with a 1085 kit and ported head but with standard carbs and cams had 97 bhp on the dyna rolling road.

  6. Be good to see the engine once it`s all built up and being used. Are you just going to do it black or a fancy colour?

Just a gloss black. Got the bores with 1100cc hi comp pistions, ported CV head with HD valve springs, MTC under bucket shims, Anderson S3 cams, slotted cam sprockets, HD clutch. The only thing I need is a good crank, as I took the crank I had over to Roger and he found out it was f*cked :(

  7. that looks sharp. is that their 78-80 1000 header?

I am looking at that for my 82 1100e because I am not a fan of the vance and hines style pipe they offer for mine. haven't pulled the trigger yet as I am not sure if it will fit.

Yes it's the 78-80 GS1000 headers, they do a Marshall type end can for them but I did not like that styal.

Here's a pic of the Pro race end can I've now got, not fully bolted up yet.

  8. When your at it give the calipers a good clean and make sore the pistions are moving freely, as the rubber seals may of swolen and stopping the pistions from moving back.

  9. Just got a Pro-race end can orderd and they are moding the can to sut the 64mm link pipe and welding a tab on it so I can bolt it the the bike all for the same cash £54 :)
I will post a pic of it when it gets here and when it's on the bike ;)

  10. I take it that you're on CV carbs. I start with 130 main Mikuni jets and the needle in the middle groove, but before you start make sure that the carbs are good and clean as a bit of dirt can give you lots of problems. Also, make sure that you balance the carbs each time you've had them off.
