  1. Well the exhaust turned up today. Speed Products Cobra S4, brushed stainless headers and link pipe, stainless silencer. The badge isn't stuck as asked for it loose. They have 2 styles so will see which looks best before sticking on. Plan is to fit this weekend and provide a review on fit, sound and how she runs.
  2. There is a GSXR 750 K wiring loom on Eblag for about £55. Might make a better starting point. You can compare and contrast K and L wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual. Might save you a lot of time and swearing.
  3. latest from Germany, exhaust will be posted Tuesday so no review until next week.
  4. It is taking a while but I should have the new exhaust next week. Once I have it fitted I will post a review in full.
  5. #martyngsxr was kind enough to let me go and see his Micron exhaust at the weekend. A bit of a you show me yours and I'll show you mine. They are exactly the same and his are confirmed for a GSXR 750 L. Big thanks to Martyngsxr for being such a gent. Doesn't change that the pipes touch the bellypan but confirmed that is the design and they aren't some mismatched Frankenstein exhaust.
  6. Yes, there is a baffle in the link pipe. The exhaust is in great condition and well made. It is a real shame it touches the plastics.
  7. I hope you don't mind if I try not to entertain you. I took 1 header off at the weekend to look at it and was rusty but only finger tight. However, we all know that was to lull me into a false sense of security. It will all go well until I get to that 1 bolt and then ......
  8. If you go for a new shock then Nitron are good. Prices are about £450 to £750 with a choice of 3 options. They are built to order based on rider weight, bike and riding style. I will let more knowledgeable members discuss ride height and wheel widths as I know nothing about them.
  9. Latest update on my exhaust journey. I have found out that Cobra still make a full stainless steel exhaust for my bike. There were a couple of choices and after much deliberation I ordered the S4 with name plate upgrade. They confirmed it will work with standard fairings and no alterations. I will post a full review when it arrives. The ordering process was great and the person in live chat super helpful. Lets see how fitting, quality and sound stack up. Once it arrives I will sell off my exhaust. If I can ID my current system it would be a huge help.
  10. Cheers that would be a help. My 4 section is 35mm dia, 2 - 1 section is a single piece. The 2 part is 42mm dia and 1 section 63mm. If it is a 750 section I wonder if it is for a water cooled rather than oil cooled. I'm not ruling out a Frankenstein mixed model headers and link pipe.
  11. Pics of the exhaust, can anybody identify the headers? Pretty sure the link pipe will be oil cooled Slingshot 1100. If the headers are simply the 1100 then that must make the manifold hole deeper on the 1100. Sorry I don't know the correct name Forgot to take the end can off to check for a baffle in the link pipe, bugger. I will pop it off during the week as it is beer time now.
  12. Thanks, I will pop the end can off later today and take a look.
  13. Thanks, I will keep looking for the correct system. I might just have to buy in sections as I have located correct headers but need to find a decent link pipe and end can. I was thinking of cutting away parts of the fairing with a Dremel but going off that idea.
  14. My micron fits over the link pipe. The actual link pipe is 63mm dia going down to 41mm as it changes from 1 into 2. My link pipe appears to be about 10mm larger than the OEM posted by Captain Chaos
  15. Thanks for the reply. Where is the baffle / reducer inside the link pipe? Just before the end can ?
  16. yep for sure not for this bike. I will keep in mind getting it bent. I'll have to look if I can get clearance by bending closer to the sump. Thanks
  17. I'll take some side and front on snaps and get them posted.
  18. I thought it still had to not touch the plastics. Will wrapping stop it burning if it touches? I have never put my hand on a wrapped exhausr so don't know how hot they get. Will add it to the potential options though, thanks.
  19. Hi I have a multipart question I would lack to through out to the wisdom of the crowd. 1st, what exhaust is on my bike? Is it a simple1100 exhaust or frankensteins monster. By the way my bike is a 750 L 1990. 4 -2-1 with no balancer pipes between header. Crucially the exhaust header does not fit snuggly to the manifold. About 5-6mm protrudes, see pics. Header pipe on the throttle side is about 580mm long to where it meets the link pipe and is 35mm diameter. Link pipe is one piece 2 in to 1, the 2 section is 42mm and 360mm long, the 1 section is 63mm about 330mm. Where the 2 join the 1 is 87mm. Giveaway point for the headers is how they join the manifold as it looks like they are for a bike with a deeper manifold hole. The link pipe touches the fairing and has burnt it. On the clutch side 3 headers touch the bottom of the belly pan and have burnt it. Options 1. Buy new exhaust, tried finding one on Eblag and no luck. Can get a Marving but they don't look great. 2. Buy correct headers from a company in germany for £70 used but still don't have a link pipe and end can. Unless original headers will marry up with my current link pipe and then only 1 problem to fix. 3. Run without belly pan but I don't like that luck. 4. Leave the exhaust and Dremel the belly pan. I think I would have to cut away a lot though???? My Micron is lush but I am guessing too big at 66mm OD for correct link pipe. Sump to exhaust on clutch side is a large 17mm gap and on throttle side which isn't burnt about 9mm. Any ideas, help, thoughts you can offer are gratefully received. Thanks
  20. Cheers, I will strip all the plastics next weekend and get some detailed pics posted with measurements. Will also keep an eye on Eblag as you never know your luck. The joy of buying old bikes
  21. Cheers Captsin Chaos, you're a star. My link pipe is 65mm or close to that and is of a totally different construction. Which means if I bought stock headers the Micron won't fit. Leaves me a few things to ponder to work out the best solution. I wonder what exhaust I have mmmm. Might try and locate drawings on the net but for sure it isn't a standard setup. I greatly appreciate you going to the effort of measuring them for me. Don't suppose you have a full Yoshi exhaust in the garage
  22. Thanks for the response captain chaos. Thanks for the response. Yes my torque arm is just like yours. My headers are different to your standard version. Could you do me a favour when you get time and measure the diameter of your link pipe?
  23. Hi, I have just joined the site and wondered if somebody had a GSXR 750 1990 and wouldn't mind checking a few points on their headers for me. I bought a GSXR 750 1990 last month and noticed the exhaust is touching the belly pan at 2 points. It might have an 1100 set of headers on, wrong link pipe or just a wrong exhaust. It also looks like the rear brake torque bar has been rewelded as doesn't quite look factory and the exhaust just touches it. If you do have one you can look at please could you answer the following. 1. Where the header enters the manifold mine stands proud by 1cm . This is due to the section after the flange measuring 2cm and it looks like the manifold only allows 1 cm to enter. Is yours flush? 2. I have a gap between sump and headers of about 2cm as well. Are your headers very close to the sump or do you have clear space like mine? 3. How much space do you have between the fairing by the RH footrest and the link pipe? Mine touches, do you have a small clearance or more like 1cm+? Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to work out if all the exhaust is wrong or just the link pipe. Not sure if my solution will be a new exhaust or dremmel the fairing where it touches. Tried looking for exhausts and they are not easy to find Any help you can offer is gratefully received. I am down in Bath if anybody is in this neck of the woods. Thanks
