  1. Thank you kind sir your logic has won the day. I'll use the cash for a 1216 kit :-)
  2. That is my school of thought but, it's that nagging doubt.
  3. Hi All, I would like your opinion please. I am rebuilding my Bandit 1200 engine. It has done 80000 miles and 5th gear went tits up. I have got the bits to sort this, my problem/query is do I do the big ends and main bearings whilst the engine is in bits as a precautionary measure. There were no knocks rumbles or strange noises prior to the strip. I have had a look at the main bearings and there is very little in the way of marks just some shiny wear patches, the journals look fine too.
  4. As Captain Chaos says mate do your valves first. When you're balancing the carbs balance carbs 1&2 then balance 3&4 finally balance 1&2 with 3&4 using the screw in the middle.
  5. A very good solution to the spacer problem
  6. I have used these people in the past http://www.pittedforks.co.uk/index.php They did a good job, collected and delivered them by courier all included in the price. it worked out cheaper than after market stanchions. Just stripped the forks as far as I could and they did the rest.
  7. Thanks for the advice guys I'll replace both input and output.
  8. Thanks clivegto did you do both in put and out put or just the worn gear. It looks like its going to get expensive if I go new, but its starting to look like the only way.
  9. Hello My Bandit 1200 has started jumping out of 5th gear at 3 - 4000 rpm. I stripped the engine and 5th and 3rd gear are quite badly worn on the input side. On the output side they are worn but not as bad, but I have noticed slight burring on the 2nd gear dog holes. I intend to renew the gears on the input side, does anyone know of anywhere cheaper than Robinsons Foundry? Is there anything that I can do about the burring on the 2nd gear dog holes output side? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
