I am not sure about high beam (I'll check later). I have ordered the bulb holder for the side light (should be here in a couple of days)... so I don't know about the side light, although when I turn the sidelight on on the switch the indicators work. Might it be as simple as not having the sidelight plugged in? Sounds odd to me, but I know nothing about this magical electricity!

I hate electrics so before I start driving myself mad, I thought I'd check and see if anyone knows what stupid thing I have done wrong/what's broken. I'm putting my Katana back together and all the wiring works fine, except.... The indicators work properly until I put the main beam on. When I do that, the rears still blink, but the front go off and don't blink. I have 4 led indicators each with resistors. I'm hoping it is just a connection I've done wrong?

which GSXR unit fits best?

Looks like my LHS switchgear unit (lights etc) isn't working. I rebuilt one of these once before and my fat fingers made it a nightmare of fiddly pieces. New ones are really expensive, and I can't see any second hand ones for sale - if you have some let me know. I know that anything can be made to fit, but is there a 'plug and play' alternative unit from another bike I could use? Thanks

I did change the O rings and so it may well have been me!!! Always put my hand up if I may have been a plank (which is most of the time) The leak was no different before or after I changed the O rings though as they were actually not that bad at all. So the problem was definitely something other than rings in the first place. Any road, they don't leak now and I know a bit more about carbs than before. Just need to work out a baseline setting for the jets now...

Good work so far. An ET is definitely in my future. I wonder if you can help me. Do you know what jets are in your carburettor? I am building an 816 (katana) with pod filters too, and want to have some sort of starting point. thanks in advance

I realise that it may take some experimentation, but please can anyone tell me what size carb jets would be a good starting point? I have the carbs off the bike at the moment and it makes sense to do it now. It is for a 750 katana with an 816 wiseco kit, standard carbs running pod filters. Thanks in advance

Thanks for that. I was posting on my phone from the garage earlier. The pics have disappeared so I will post a couple now. update - problem solved. Decided to buy new float needle valves and carriers for my 'professionally rebuilt' carbs. Went to change the third one = no needle valve there!

,After a few years break, I have changed my job and a few weeks ago finally restarted my build, so stand by for more daft questions. I'll see if my build thread is still there, or start a new one. Meanwhile... I had my standard 750 carbs ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt a few years ago. They have been empty since and I am guessing I need to have them rebuilt again (my tendency to drop tiny parts means I'd rather someone less cack handed does it). Before I do though, I thought I'd just ask... When I put fuel in it leaks out of the overflow pipe. I changed the needle valve o rings and it made no diference. Is that something basic/easily sorted As I said, I assume all the o rings and gaskets have dried up, but I am useless at carbs. Also, my 750 is now 816. I'm also going to use cone filters. Any ideas about whether I need to change the jetting, if so, to what? Thanks Liam

Thanks both. Changing clip one is easy, so if the seat to footpeg distance is similar, it looks like it might be a goer.

Hello. Numpty question.... Used to love my old 1990 1100 slingshot and I'm thinking of getting another, but maybe a 750. Are they the same physical size? Only asking coz my creaky knees/back won't cope with anything much more cramped than my 1100 was. Thanks

I know what you mean. I don't know why I'm so bothered really. It's not like anyone will ever see it. Maybe if I wasn't so fussy I might actually finish building the thing.

just been reminded by katanafighter's thread that I haven't made an 'undertray' for my katana yet. I have the aluminium and will do the usual cardboard template thing, but because I'm lazy, and to save me reinventing a wheel, has anyone got a template? Thanks Liam

Hmmm, not at all sure about this one. I presume (hope) it's been designed by someone a lot cleverer than me, but that frame just looks floppy.
