not on both my 750L front ends.

Oh dang it. Thought I was onto summit!

@clivegtothe stem on this is much longer about 273mm but it has had an extension piece welded in the middle. and it’s definitely a good 30.5 diameter at the bottom where I hadn’t pressed it in all the way O.o

that .4 of a millimetre is enough for the (gsxr) stem to drop out. and still baffled why it wasn’t long enough at 256mm.

  2. So I’ve done a lot of sitting and researching and drinking..and then staring again the next evening.
I think the 750l/m is an anomaly.
the lock stops are in a different place on the bottom yoke, the are at the back side of the yoke opposed to all others I find are at the front or a single one at the front. (I cut them off mine)

So maybe the stem is slightly different too. I measured the bottom of the stem that came out and it’s 30.5mm (larger than 30.25 @Gsxrsamkindly posted above)

I have exactly the same forks on the turbo slingy which is also a j/k frame.

Anyone got a 750 L/M stem they could measure, lend or sell?

As far as I am aware all the stems should be the same across the GSXR's.

Is it possible you either haven't pressed the stem in far enough, or do you have any "Custom  Yokes" that may be thicker?

Bit of a cheeky blag here but I'll give it a punt anyway....

I am in need of a Bandit stem and I have the front-end from a 750J sat here in my garage ...

Perhaps you would be interested in a trade? (Your Bandit Stem for my 750J Stem) :P:D (y)

I’ll drop you a message after with a pic of the bandit stem. I’d call it functional, but it does look like 2 welded together :S

would be interested in trade though yes

  4. Does anyone know if they differ j/k to l/m

I have these l/m forks which were on a blandit, decided they are going towards a ‘make a bike from spares’ project, found a gsxr stem..or so I thought to swap out the bandit one, went to work to use the press to swap em, gets home to fit and there isn’t enough length to get the top nut on.
j/k frame, are they deeper headstock that the later l/m?

Thanks for the advice guys! I think say what now!? hit the nail on the head, I was confused because of the different bearing size offerings from Suzuki. Clive, I went with APR2000 bolts. I know those were popular in the Miata community, are they acceptable at higher RPM and load?

I ended up ordering the Maxpeedingrods after reading a couple good reviews and seeing people make some big power with them.

Where did you order rods from? I can’t find any in stock anywhere online.

  6. Is it common for these little bastards to snap when torquing them up, or am I just unlucky?

this is the second time I’ve had it happen, luckily first time it wound out with the broken head. Tonight, no such luck.
I know they are only 10nm setting, though I read somewhere that wet and dry torques are completely different, anyone heard this before?
