Robinsons foundry do brand new oem taps for £46 , it seems to be getting a common problem with bandit fuel taps
Does it apply to 1200s too?

Take the carbs off.
Buy a remote tank from Demon Tweeks
Fill remote tank with fuel
Fuel should start pissing out the carbs.
Order a carb seal kit and a new set of needle float valves.
Rebuilt then run the remote tank test again and let us know how you get on (should be dry as a bone). DO NOT PLAY WITH THE FLOAT HEIGHTS...they dont go out for no reason
I advise using OEM parts ( or Wemoto)

No problem with fuel feed at all if the diesel pre filter is instaled under the carbs,
btw ,also want to insert one cylindrical small neodimium magnet inside of the fitler on the fuel input side to collect oxidation metal dirt which sometime come from fuel tank ,
I think that sand like oxidation metal dirt is bad for engine cylinders and piston rings health , that metal dirt can behave like some fine lap paste .
(will post few pics later)
I like the magnets idea, I will do that. And thanks for posting the pictures, definitely a way I'd like to go

If the fuel supply is higher than the carbs then the float bowls will always fill by gravity!
Thank you. Next year after the season I'll be fitting the new washers to my carbs. Might have a look at re-routing my fuel filter to below the carbs if there is space

In my 88-R750J I use just one Bosch Diesel in line fuel filter but positioned under the carbs , Diesel fuel filter can not cause fuel starvation since is not paper based but is plastic fine mesh type, just one rubber pipe comes from fuel tank tap to under to filter , tap second output is closed with one short rubber pipe and one bolt , from filter output I use one plastic T piece to connect to carbs two fuel inputs , by positioning filter under the carbs he also colect water from fuel , water is heavier than gasoline and can not raise in the carbs float bowl chambers ,
I presume you have a vac system on your carbs. Mine is gravity fed. Would filter under the carbs work with gravity fed?

It reads 34.8 mm
Thank you. The 36 was a lazy school boy error....I had it in my head because of a post in this thread. The point 8 however I got wrong, I can see why, I just thought it was lined up on the 0.6.
So the good news is I remember how to read a vernier. The bad news is I'm capable of getting it wrong!!!
-
Is that vernier reading 36.60? Just testing to see if I need a digital vernier or do i still remember how to use one...

if i'm fitting inline filters - I use x 2 - ref: to reduce flow restriction
I didn't know that 2 would restrict flow restriction,. makes sense though. Ive enough issues getting 1 filter tucked away as it is.
I've not had any starvation issues using decent size filters on any of my bikes. I guess people fit those tiny filters and it all goes wrong from there
I will put up a photo of my filter in situ

If you go to the trouble of fitting an inline filter make sure it can flow more fuel than the tanks petrol tap can. I fitted one and it caused fuel starvation where the engine drained the float bowls faster than the filter let fuel through. It was old unused filter meant for a carbed 900 ducati but I suspect as that bike had a fuel pump they didn't care to much if the filter restricted the flow a touch . On my gravity fed slabby it was just too slow a flow.
Its a good point. I tend to use big filters so I've never experienced this

Now resolved and fixed - all working again!

Help - I get confused by the front brake light switch - plastic piece with the copper end.
HTF does it work? I remember asking this before and having to do a drawing. I know its really easy but I don't know which way to put it in.
Going nuts (how can I be this thick - can rebuild an engine but cant work out how to put this stupid little thing in. Searched everywhere but cannot find my original post on either board explaining how to

Thanks for the replies chaps, i got all the bits from wemoto...I'm led to believe they are closest quality to Mikuni. I Did actually bench test them and they didn't leak..I went through everything meticulously and everything was clinically spotless...or so I thought...looks like I'm gonna have to strip it all down yet again , a PIA cos it's running pretty well.
Could be the minutest spec of dirt like Jaydee says. I always fit an in-line filter, never had anything get past them ever. Its a no-brainer but most people don't fit them.
Please let us know what the problem was when you find it.
Good luck

Nice one.
Make sure you test them for flooding on a bench with a remote tank after rebuild. I've had new parts fail from reputed dealers - hence I only use oem these days.
Leave on test for 24 hrs. Mark the fuel level with a bit of tape. If you dont lose more than 1 or 2 mm in 24hrs your problems are sorted
