  1. Time to get back to the RGV/SP project. Painted tank this past week, hope to get the fairing done this next week....as I have some expensive bits on their way to me for the engine.
  2. This is where the project ends for now..... Riding season is here finally....getting parts shipped is still too much of a problem....need to save money for the engine rebuild. I have too much $$$ into it to stop completely......hope by end of summer I will have finances back in order to start the big bore engine build. And hopefully the parts supplies will be available when needed by then.
  3. Wiring is next.....everyones favorite part of bike building. Converting everything to VJ22...engine/gauges/radiator/powervalve servo/charging and ignition bits....
  4. A little more done to the RGV....still have a long way to go..... Took 3 sets of gauges to make one set that will work with the VJ22 wiring...and changed to the 150 speedo Finances have stopped on the project until everybody gets back to work, so money can start flowing again.
  5. Got my tail framework welded and painted after getting the exhaust/footpeg mounts cut off. Now I can get the rear of the bike finished up
  6. Got my Nitron from the Tuning Works put in and my HEL brake lines on. Bikes chassis is basically done. Now to get the bodywork straightened out, as I have just received my decals from Image works. Cutting off the footpeg/exhaust mounts and re-positioning the support bars....had to get bike off the table to get closer to where my welder is plugged in.
  7. Thanks Looks like this virus scare is going to slow down progress, as everything looks to be going down the drain..... work may be closing down indefinitely as we can not get parts we need from outside countries....as their companies have been shut down....
  8. Just pulled my trans out today to verify either a standard ratio SPII or close ratio SPI. It is a close ratio....All shift dogs are undercut from factory as well, compared to all other non SP RGV transmissions. Dry clutch undercut gears Regular RGV gears Longer dry clutch input shaft Regular RGV input shaft
  9. Spongebob just had one on Yahoo last week....missing the outside cover and the straight cut crank gear....about $750....One of the gears had a shift dog broke off it...which are not the same as standard trans...NLA. I remember when a complete setup was too expensive at $600....those days are long gone
  10. Nitron rear shock just ordered...$$$$ It was hard to let that money go, but I really wanted/needed a good shock. My other big expense that was not necessary, but I wanted it anyway.... Dry clutch....along with attached motor from Japan
  11. Got my GK73 / GSXR400SP swingarm machined down to RGV specs. Fits perfect with just enough clearance everywhere. Hope to have the rest of my bearing for suspension linkage this weekend. Then I will be able to get it back up on two wheels as a roller.....finish up the brakes.....then start saving $$$$ for the engine.
  12. Slow progress..... Foot controls ready to bolt back on. Forks, calipers and master cylinders all rebuilt. New tires and bearings in wheels.
  13. I have wanted to get my own aquablast / vaporblast machine.....but just a bit out of my price range for just me. Would be a good business to retire into.... Got some of my bolts and bits shined up and replated this weekend. Might start bolting it together one of these days.
  14. Thanks....this type of stroker is basically unknown in the US.... Makes it more difficult. Work bench..... it was a back massage bench that I got from the chiropractic office my wife manages. Just used the legs and the main framework, then put a couple layers of plywood on top. Have a motorcycle ramp from my van I use to get bikes up and down
  15. Frame is Anodized so it is already protected. Soda blasting does not harm anodizing in any way.....at least not on anything I have done. Fork lowers I used a scotch brite type of pad on the bare aluminum to give it a factory brushed kind of look....Then I clear coated and baked them
  16. Pulled my SP forks apart to get new seals and bushings installed. Fresh oil and possibly new springs as well Need to refinish the fork lowers before they go back together Wheels are stripped and soda blasted, ready for some fresh paint....rear wheel was pretty rough, with fair amount of corrosion under the paint. Frame soda blasted, and cleaner than it has been in 30 years. Has some marks in the anodize, but it will not be seen after the bike starts going back together again It's had an abused life....
  17. I grab RGV parts when I can find them cheap.....which does not happen often here.... But I have collected almost enough to feel comfortable about using my bikes now GK73 SP....because it looks cool, and definitely has the factory kit kind of look. Also, I am hoping for over 80HP at the rear wheel, so a stronger arm was wanted..... The rear wheel fits as original also. The only thing I have to do is narrow each side about 1/4 inch to fit in frame, all the linkage is in the same place as the RGV. And I have never seen anyone do it either
  18. Down to the bare frame.....what a disaster.... Might sell this engine, as I have a 206/208 bottom end I want to use along with different cylinders and crank.
  19. Engine is out....but previous owners left me with some booby traps to get through. some snapped bolts....drilled out screws....cross threaded nuts.... Hope to have a bare frame soon to soda blast, then start building a bike.
