    Old XR41

This one was restaured by a specialist in 2008/2009. Offered for sale, by a well know site, the following year.
  2. After some more hot alert & discussion with 3 friends It appeared that our best chance of surviving was to move our favorite occupation on the track. Age of reason ? Maybe... We concentrated us on classics events. No question to run with the "Pro" in a competition... Objective was Just to ride on a track with our homemade bike. (in fact 3 MotoMartin) Things like "BolOrClassic" offered possibility to have some fun on two wheels betwen the 2 official race. Friends make some test during 2 years...and i decided to try my hability with my MotoMartin... instead to see the fun they had from the side of the track... First impression were great. Track like "Magny Cours" or "LeMans" are really great place.
  3. Anyway...we were in 2009. And a new challenge began... I changed the : -fork (GsxR750 K1) -front wheel & disc (750Srad) -engine (GsxR1100 90) -carbs (GsxR WaterCooled 38mm) -calliper & master cylinder ( Brembo) -rear shock (EMC)
  4. I imagine what you're thinking about ! SO...let's see what happened after. After what ? Did you ask me ? After i crashed it lamentably in a ditch in border of the road... after a superb braking, that i was try to make to a Buddy... and If it had passed, what great braking ! Cost me : - bended fork - destroyed front Wheel - screen & fairing - brake lever & right handlebar - ignition crankcase cover - footrest & brake pédal - 2 beautiful bumps in the alloy fuel tank -5mm were removed from the top of my old Shoei helmet... And a lot of scratch everywhere...on the bike & pilot (me!) All this is very classic...for all of who have know this kind of scenary... cost me a lot of sarcastic comments during the few month who have followed this drama... This is a picture...just after the first wash, for removing all the mud on the bike.
  5. Lot of buddy think it was the best version...and they didn't just understand how a such "oldskool" bike worked so well on the road... Life was perfect... And then...can you imagine what happened...
  6. So, year after years, i've continued to ride this bike. I've an opportunity to collect a fiberglass fairing from MotoMartin. This time, it was a CBX model. Paint it in black...Never want to have a to shiny bike. Prefer a rought look with some good performance instead of the reverse. Made nothing special... Installed seat base 3 cms higher. Fitted AVON sport tyres. It was in 2008.
  7. Hi markfoggy ! i must say : I'm a big fan from your work I owned a little parts from Phase One...
  8. So, i understand. Next week i will going near caen (Luc sur Mer) to search a new parts for one of my bike. A carbon fiber tank for a slabby...
  9. OhOh ! Well done ! Seems that France wasn't unknow for you captain chaos ! Haut Rhin (dept68) is my birthplace & 68 my birthyear. Actualy installed in West of France ( Brittany/Cornouaille/29)
  10. This kind of "spine frame " is the very first that G.Martin have conceived. Inspiration is in direct line from the F.Egli concept. After trouble for plagiarism, Egli has forced G.Martin to changing his plan. He moved for the well now "space frame" that he sell for various kind of motorisation during 7/8 years. Principal avantage for the space frame is a better accessibility to the top engine. With the spine frame...nothing to do. You take the engine down for doing anything on the top...During an endurance race, you can imagine what happened... Mine is from 1977. You're right . Engine plate is in one pièce and take swingarm pivot & engine mount.
  11. So, let's see what happened after... Because i was unsatisfied with the rear shock, i take the option to make a test with only one unit (instead of two...) mounted on the bike....!!! And here...suspension works great. Uncredible...Second test. I've removed a pair of Koni shock from my old Bonnie. Lenght was 30mm longer. Road test. Verdict : SO MUCH better. I remove the uggly fairing and choose another that was availale on one of my oder bike (MotoMartin) Chopped a little bit the screen. At this time, i've a bike who weighted 169kgs, without fuel but with oil and battery. Very instinctive on the road. Turn like a little bike but with the massive torque from GsxF engine. Change the front Nissin for six piston system... Have a lot of fun with this version & ride it a lot.
  12. Hope you don't mind me having a nosey...but I can clearly remember me, the old topic who explained the build from this fantastic bike, some years ago. Can't remember what happened for the bike after the race. Dismantled ? If i can ask, of course.
  13. Consecration...? First meeting with the bike. Made a sensational reaction with the people present. BUT...doesn't satisfy me in term of aestetic...and comportment. Too hight on the front/ too low on the rear. Of course doesn't turn correctly. Sourced a original MotoMartin fairing who's so BIG... Rear suspension is too hard. Shame because they where custom made... 4 years work...nothing good...
  14. Yes they made some good products./ have great reputation. Good choose of material. And focused on performance.
  15. Works in progress (2005) At this time...i was able to make the first ride ! And...it was an awfull experience. Bike didn't handle correctly. It was a pain to ride. Too hard spring on the rear shock. Shame because they were custom made... Egli tank was opened, repaired & re-welded.
  16. Yes, you're right captain chaos. Unfortunately this society doesn't exist anymore... Economical crisis, law against noise, constructor comportment...all that, made it happened.
  17. Yes ! At this time...2 year of work...it was in 2004.
  18. Finaly i choose a Egli alloy tank. The seller was an old racer man from the 50/60. He sell me a part of his story with the tank. Fork/wheel/brake are from an Hayabusa./ rear is 600bandit. Fiberglass seat is a "big butt" model from DonVesco 4/1 stainless exhaust system is from MIG (French brand)
  19. First presentation from engine in the frame. Special oval swimgarm build for the bike.
  20. Thanks Banoffe & Katanamangler. So if you're "OK", here are more pictures.
