Rifty Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Afternoon, hoping that someone can point me in the right direction from actual experience pleez. I need to replace at least one fork seal, the Haynes manual says to use a 50/50 mix of 10w30 and ATF. However, reading around, the concensus seems to be that dedicated fork oil didn't exist back then and it's better to use that. Is that true ? I've read reports saying that regular 10w30 engine oil is no good as it froths ? I don't want a fork oil that would be thinner than the recommended 50/50 mix but there are so many viscosities around, what weight would I actually need, 15 ? Very confused, all advice from actual experience very welcome ! Cheers, Rifty Quote
wraith Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 If I remember the gs1000 used a SAE10 as standard. May help. Quote
gs7_11 Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 I've always used 10W fork oil on bikes where oddball stuff like that was recommended, never had any issues. Should be fine for a 250. Quote
